I some some sympathy with the argument that the draw was made way too early. And I had completely forgotten about your tragic November 2012........
I'm 57 and was lucky to be at Wembley on 30th July 1966 as an 8 year old with my old man Fantastic experience - and all for 25 shillings (£1.25) each !!! .... and, Yes - I wanted England to win!
The bizarre thing about that is that Scotland must have won a couple of games at some stage. As far as I can remember they couldn't score a try for a few years.
I was there in '66 too Taff. I was also at Twickenham in 1991. Only two people at both of those games - me and the Queen!
You may say that. I couldn't possibly comment. My dad utilised his extensive West London network to blag himself in as a programme seller (as he seemed to do for every cup final in the sixties too). Don't think he even tried to sell a programme, and he didn't take me, mind you I was only 5.
It would make the stolen joke better if it was, but sadly no. Just noticed Japan have to play Scotland on Wednesday, a very short recovery time after their heroics of Saturday.
Well Taff, I was just about 10 on that day and didn't go but remember it well. Lucky you. My old man was far too busy to take me....or a tight wad, not sure!
Being played at Kingsholm Gloucester who just happen to play in Cherry and White Hoops the same as Japan.... they will probably get a huge amount of support from the locals at what is traditionally one of the most partisan grounds in the Country......should be some spectacle......
I was 10 when England won the world cup and watched it on the television, looking back I suppose it's what got me interested in football. I went to my first game at LR in January '68 and was instantly hooked by that Marsh fellow
