You didn't have to do much, might not be your only one but it will be your easiest. Sad state of affairs at Newcastle, play like the last couple of games and we will be going down.

Have just read 2 threads on today's game on your site. Hardly 1 comment acknowdging WFC are a decent side- a few snide comments on the back of the News Chronicle's attitude is about all. Well, take a look at how we. built for this campaign. Poor little WFC might have a small ground, a limited history and few trophies, but generally we the supporters are gracious enough to acknowledge a better team when we get deservedly beaten. About time your lot did the same the media too for that matter.
As you might tell, we are a bit p**sswd off with being written off , dismissed as no hopers pygmies against Giants ?, etc.

    Cheers

That's very nice of you to say but I think you were decent value for the win. Yes we pressed and the stats make it look like we were the better team but the reality of it is that you coasted to a lead and then sat back (a touch fool-hardy really) and we weren't good enough to be able to punish that. If we had equalised with 20 minutes to go you probably would have just hit us on the break and won anyway...

I posted about the same time as you but that's pretty much exactly what I was doing mate. I think in generally you're expecting too much for opposition fans to put their hands up and say "they were the better side" when the established premiership team is playing at home. Not because its not going to be true but because it can be hard to accept - try not to take it so personally. Don't get me started on the London based press, they aren't exactly complimentary about Newcastle - ever!

I am finding the intensity of the competition between Newcastle and Sunderland a bit much for my blood pressure

    Yes-appreciate what you say.
It's also unfortunate that journo's are so lazy. It's just we have had years and years of it! We have another chip too(1 on each shoulder, well balanced). Ever since Bobby Moore didn't get Wfc managers job, set up by Jeff Powell of Daily Fail hoping for a great scoop, they,be had it in for us.
Having been to St James many times, from 1968 (Stan Anderson, great leader), it's rather sad to see so much passion being wasted. I'll put it down to frustration rather than bad grace. Hope things pick up for you.

Surprised you're struggling so badly early on this season. Given the money he spent in the summer I fully expected McClaren to get it right this season, as he's a fantastic coach. From the little I've seen of you, you look short up front and devoid of any confidence.

To me it will take longer than 2 months with a decent coaching team to undo all the ****e over the past couple of seasons. Ignoring Toney we have signed only 4 players, of which only one could be classed as ready to go (Wijnaldnum) - the others are young and coming from weaker leagues. Assuming those 4 all start then we still have 7 first team players from the previous regime who have not had any decent coaching in years, no actual tactics, no plan B, no confidence and the same set pieces drilled in to them for 4 years!

Patience is what we need, but as with most things associated with NUFC, a lot of fans do not understand patience (oh wait, sorry we have not won a trophy in so many years....... we still turn up in our droves.......) as we have seen so many time when a new player or a young player comes in to the team and doesn't hit the ground running!

    <laugh>

Your team is ****e and will be relegated. Just because you beat one of the worst NUFC sides in decades doesn't make you decent. It means you had some pace up front.

Quality wise, that'll be the ****test side that beats us at St James', although surely not the last, we're both in trouble <ok>

I disagree, but mainly because I didn't want McLaren to start with. People accused Pardew of having a positive record for one season then going to **** thereafter before he came to us, well Schteve has the same record (and if this is the glory season we're doomed <laugh>). Fact is, Pardew is a better manager.

This is the ultimate **** pie. Awful team, made no better through mostly poor signings (the useless Gini and Mitrovic especially), and a crap manager.

This has nothing to do with previous managers though, the current manager is picking the wrong side. I don't buy into his bollocks. He also was part of the football board which spent our entire budget on midfielders and attackers when we have a turd defence and have done for 5 years.

They've had plenty decent coaching. When Pardew had the players we were very decent. A lot better than what we are watching so far. We need to stop harking back to previous regimes. Pardew has been and gone. McClaren is now here and needs support. From what I'm seeing he has had that from the owner and the fans. He now has to deliver.

Our fans are pretty patient, we've been patiently waiting for our owner to support a manager for 8 years or so. Now he has and we are watching a manager try to make positive strides but handicapping himself. Forums will always be filled with critique when managers are making errors. There was plenty of support inside the ground yesterday, There were boos at half time because certain players appeared to be going through the motions. Personally not my bag but you can see why some are frustrated. Indeed if anyone can use the excuse of the last few seasons frustration, its the supporters not the management team.

I am not buying this one rule for one manager, and a different set of rules for another. He has had plenty of time to assess what type of players he has. It will take time to bed in his tactics etc of course. He deserves time and support. However we can't just use the old "previous regime" excuse when he is blatantly picking the wrong side. We all know it. Why would you pick CIsse, Sissoko and Colback on form and the style he is trying to play. Everyone knows Perez, Anita, Aarons and SDJ have to be in the team on form and style.

Essentially he just needs to wise up and quick. This stubborness is in selection is a worry, hopefully he and his coaching staff will see the obvious errors. You only need to look at the change when we bring the right players on.

    I agree.
Did anyone honestly expect our turnaround to be instant? It takes longer to turn a cruise liner than a tug boat.

If or when McClaren manages to get this half hearted group of players playing as a team and with a bit if passion, it will probably be too effing late and we will find ourselves staring relegation in the face. We have used shyte paint when covering the cracks in pre-season and that shyte paint is peeling off rapidly now!

Layun was only there half a season from Jan last year but a very talented left back they picked up after his starring role in the world cup. He left for CL football with Porto.

We all know it's much deeper. All well and good tossing another name about, but the model is the same and you automatically rule out most progressive managers because the club refuses to give the manager any power. I won't ever jump on a McLaren out bandwagon, no point. We'll never see a better manager pedigree than his, his Derby side played some lovely football last year. At some point the club accepts a better direction in terms of the playing squad, or we go down because it is inevitable at some point that 18 other clubs will simply be better than ours if we persevere with the buy young sell high model. Spurs made £80m on Bale, but what the fat man fails to comprehend is that Bale was a byproduct of ambition; Ashley believes you can make money deliberately on players, when the game itself is far from an exact science.
