I know they can go off on a tangent once in awhile and by all accounts they were terrible for the season opener (I was at the game myself) but I've listened to them now for 4 games this season (today, Cardiff and the two cup games) whilst being at the rest in person and they've been excellent. I felt like I was at the game myself today with a superb description of the action. Feel they've come in for a lot of undeserved criticism lately and thought the truth should be put out there for those who wouldn't know different.
I can never tell if you're being serious or just trying to be the Devils Advocate? For people who don't like them, does anyone ever complain to Humberside or just on here & other message boards?
Well theyve got to talk about something because watching citys like watching paint dry At least Swansra will provide some entertainment on Tuesday
He's not the editor anymore. Despite the ironic nature of Mr Hats post here they have improved very slightly this season, I think there is a good chance somebody has had a word with them about the standard of the commentary
There's a lot of bollocks posted about Pete and Dave but that's all it is. I think past experiences have soured the truth from the regulars. No complaints about my four experiences this season, top stuff.
All that stuff with Swanny having the trots the other night. at one time we even heard him say Iv'e gotta go. I found it quite funny at times though.
Matt Dean's now the Sports Editor. He took over when Burnsey got his morning show. I personally think they do quite a good job. Burnsey tells you where the play is happening very well and he has a football commentators voice. he knows when to get excited at the right time and Swanny keeps it light hearted with his pearls of wisdom. After listening to Burgess and Dudfield the other week who gave you no idea where the play was taking place. Plus they were monotone and boring. Burnsey and Swanny are miles better in my opinion.
That's not the job of a co-commentator. They're there to analyse play - not recount history. Swanny needs replacing. The co-com job is incredibly difficult; very few have mastered it (particularly on radio).
Next time we're on Sky, try watching it with Burns' commentary and then see how much of the game they actually describe.
Quite a few times this season I've found other commentaries during the match thanks to our friends here and it's clear straight away that Humberside's coverage is appaling in comparison. They don't describe what's happening, the commentary is slow, they don't seem to have any research to hand about the players. They get away with it because Burns has been there for years.
