Schweinsteiger, depay and Martial. Some are lower, some higher. Also, I actually forgot Moyes entirely. So it should read, van Gaal hasn't spent £300million as is often claimed. Using the pointless (and yes, I don't like using it but the money argument bhas worn very thin) net spend, he's actually spent £128million. That may be true. But to talk about us finishing 4th last season (as the bitter gooner has) and then include 4 signings that have come in after, is skewing the facts somewhat. If we're going to include all of those listed, then you can only judge the team at the end of this season. I feel sorry for the gooners. He said £300 million to get fourth. To get fourth, van Gaal bought Di Maria, Blind, Rojo, Shaw, Herrera and spent the money on Falcao. That is £151 million. Moyes bought Fellaini and Mata and the rest were bought to get higher than fourth. *edit - had already been covered by others!
Title challenge? What's that? Most of us would have liked to have believed we could compete for the title (not win) at the beginning of the season but that opening day defeat and subsequent unconvincing performances as well as Wenger's failure to strengthen up front and in CDM have left that a distant dream. Best we can hope for is 3rd. We live in hope and not expectation.
