Re the Costa incident, having looked at it numerous times I would like the referee to explain why - a) Costa fought with Kos from an attacking cross and swung his arms into the face of Kos in a manner deemed as unfair play. Why at this stage did the referee not blow his whistle for a free kick to Arsenal... What played out thereafter would not have occurred if Mike Dean had blown his whistle, taken charge and defused any further issues. We can rant all we like about us playing poorly, we should not fall for Costa's antic's etc... BUT for me it happens too often and the people controlling the referee's and the rules need to look at individual's who act in this unsporting manner. Then to top it all off, you get Jose the cocksucker coming out and saying his man of the match is Costa! Great example for the youth... oh yeah let's play like a prick and that'll win you all the praise required to be a superstar footballer. * I honestly had wished Gabriel had gone up to Costa and decked the prick.. I would have got enough satisfaction from that and taken the 3 month ban!
I'm not trying to bait nobody, if someone says they still think we are challengers, i'm not going to get into a whole debate as to why we are not. I just want to really know if some people still think we are challengers? That's all. But it's like you can't talk here anymore without a hammer over your head by the pro-Wenger brigade.
It's Mike Dean, he is a known ****, particularly to Arsenal. The standard of refereeing as many have said, has become piss poor.
Yes we are in theory title challengers but we all know it's very unlikely. I do think though that you do tend to sound like a broken record all too often Arsenal87, take a chill pill and try and speak constructively.
As for the match, what's there to discuss? We gave a ****y a referee the excuse he was looking for to send one of our players off, just like we did VS Zagreb. It was bad indiscipline from our part, and a lack of leadership from our captain to have not stepped in. The goal we conceded was yet another set play, just like our last game in fact. So the same mistakes we saw in mid-week, have resurfaced again today, and that's just not excusable. Talk about never learning.
It's because this club under Wenger is a broken record, so the same things keep being repeated because the same rubbish keeps happening over and over again. Today is a great example, same problems from mid-week turned up again today.
Don't disagree with you, BUT tell me, do you think Mike Dean and Costa should be investigated/reprimanded for the incident with Kos/Gabriel to help stamp out this kind of unprofessional/unsporting behaviour. Up until the 40th Minute we had a good game to watch and I thought we were playing quite well all be it Chelsea we're predictably finding their old form. Too often, games are turned on their head by blatant poor decisions and the power's to be need to finally put this all to bed.
There is absolutely no problem with people speaking constructively and they are free to criticise Wenger as much as they want but I will draw the line at people trying to start spats and I think I speak on behalf of all the mods
Yes, they should be investigated, but still doesn't change the fact that both our red cards were deserved. For the first one, Gabriel was stupid, he should not have allowed himself to get drawn in, and our captain should have stepped in, so all in all, we still have to largely look at ourselves, and only have ourselves to really blame. This is a common reoccurrence with us, we play good, everything is looking fine, and we shot ourselves in the foot and the blow the game away because of one moment of stupidity. That's the bigger problem for me, this isn't the first time this has happened, again, it literally happened in our last game! It's a common theme with us. And that again, comes down to the manager.
No probs Out of interest..what's your view on what I mentioned above re Dean and Costa? I don't know what it is about Arsenal, but we are the one team that constantly get's in to trouble or has bad luck (some will say we bring it on ourselves). Just about every week there's a defining poor referring judgement/decision, deflected goal, bad injury, a fluke freak of nature wonder strike from opposition player etc.. Are we an unlucky team or do we bring all this on ourselves... I personally think we have more unlucky moments than most, but do understand some of it is brought on ourselves.
We weren't complaining against C.Palace were we? When Coq was lucky to be on the pitch, so it works both ways. I think we are trying to just find a convenient excuse now and put it all down to being 'unlucky'. Have we been unlucky for more than a decade?
Dean gave Costa a yellow card so I presume he saw the incident and acted as he saw fit.Being that he gave Costa a yellow I doubt if the FA will take further action
Dean booked Costa for his chest push on Gabriel and gave the defender one too, presumably for something that he said. I don't think that any of the officials spotted the stuff that Costa did to Koscielny prior to that.
