How come you're used to the scouse accent? Is it from going to Anfield?

I mix up some of my l's and r's now due to being surrounded by carrier-bag carrying Oriental daytrippers every time I go to OT.

I think the reason you can understand most folk in Edinburgh is they come from the south of England or Australia or the US or....anywhere except Edinburgh!

It's because they only have one subject of conversation: how great Edinburgh is.
You can always spot the true Edinburgher on the street. The Royal Mile is just littered with guys leaning one-handed against various walls, trousers and scants at their ankles as they furiously beat their meat. 'Mmm...ooh...oh, Edinburgh...ooh....aye...festival..that's it likesay...aw the castle...<squit>'

It's easy to tell the difference between an Edinburgher and a weegie.

We're about a foot taller, slimmer, healthier looking and there are people who actually live beyond 75 in Edinburgh, unlike in Glasgow where the average life expectancy is less than Afghanistan.

Must admit that as a Londoner I find the ridiculous accent used by the likes of Danny Dyer and various fools on eastenders exceptionally annoying. It really is not how most of us speak. It's rare to hear anyone wandering around saying "button it you shllllaaaaagggggg"

I voted Scouse but would have to concede that the accents on TV are probably exagerated in exactly the same way as for Londoners.

I lived and worked in Edinburgh for eight years so I know all about Edinburghers. They do tend to have a somewhat inflated sense of civic pride and they do obsess a little about Glasgow but that aside, the forty-odd miles do not make for two vastly different races.

I might be new here but I'm not new to 606 or the old fan forums before that, besides the 'joke' is very relevant to your comment.

I worked in a hotel/bar in Gorgie. I actually really liked my time in Edinburgh.
