Which is why I believe there is something we don't know.

    What facts are you giving?

    Didn't he swear at fans?

Didn't he attack an opposition players?

Wasn't he "sacked" the couple of hours?

Didn't he have a dickhead attitude towards the media - that he got lectured about following the whole embarrassing ostrich argument?

Wasn't his son involved in a orgy with prostitutes on the chairmans dime where they were filmed racially abusing the girls.

It was widely reported to have refused to do so and was against the sacking of the players - but that isn't "fact" but that he never gave a statement condemning the actions is.

All those added up are reasons enough to sack him irregardless of league position.

    It's all relative of course.

Incidentally, I would like to say right now if Ranieri can improve on last season by even one place, I will regard it as a success. <ok>

5 games in he has taken us to 2nd position.

I don't have a crystal ball so am enjoying the now rather then the what could have been.

What assumption - that it was reported that he argued that his son shouldn't get sacked? That is a fact.

That he never gave a statement condemning him and the other boys? That is a fact.

That multiple indecretions lead to a sacking? That is a fact.

What are you referring to - also please state your facts about all that I have listed.

The whole point I've been trying to get across is that I believe the "now" would be the same with or without Pearson.

It's moving forward that will be different.

And I too am enjoying it right now. Long may it continue.

Just because something is possible/likely/highly likely doesn't make it a fact.

Pearson was good and Ranieri is good.

This attitude of having to say that one has to be better than the other with "facts" to prove it is utterly pathetic.

You're grown men, let's just enjoy this while it lasts because these last few years have been bloody fantastic.

Wow that's almost as many pages of arguing as you see on other boards! For what it's worth I was a big Pearson fan due to the fantastic job he did and the stability as there's nothing worse than chopping and changing managers every year. Also, based on what we've seen so far, we were far better defensively under Pearson even when we were losing as it was by the odd goal, Claudio needs to rectify this (I see on BBC he's offering the squad pizza for a clean sheet).
However, you cannot argue with Ranieris start and we look as good if not better attacking that we did at the end of last season and much better than the first 29 games of it. He is also much better tactically and after last week, we can have faith that we can always come back and get something. He just needs to sort the defensive frailties and not get into those 0-2 positions. I also think he interviews very well which is refreshing and seems to have a great sense of humour

Disagree - I feel the deep void left by the absence of Nigel's unique public relations and cultural ambassadorial skills <laugh>

I kind of agree with this, I think Pearson would have us high up the league certainly, but i don't think it would have been second place, though this is speculation.

I personally thought inital CR reaction was harsh for a manager that has spent most of his career at top flight clubs around europe, but even though i supported the decision, i don't think that we can judge how the season will pan out just yet, hes made some some errors but has made other point winning decisions sofar for me.

We have certainly had beneficial fixtures to begin with, but i think it would have taken the most optimistic of us to predict 11 points from 5 games. Pundits are now saying we will be safe, which shows that some pundits live week to week on results, yet CR is very open about us gaining the 40 points before even thinking further.

I agree what we need to see is what CR does when we lose 2 or 3 games in a row, does he stick with the same tactics and players, or does he roll the dice and switch things around.

I like having a manager with personality.

And some measure of skill (I remember Holloway).

The most ironic part of the reaction towards CR was that all of the Chelsea fans thought he was a really good appointment - it was all of the fans of clubs that he didn't manage (i.e. everyone else) that instantly judged him.

Good point - even then not all opposing fans - the biggest critics were the media tbf - some ridiculous comments being made in relation to his time managing the Greek international team in particular ...

Naah, can't see those minor incidents being the reason. <laugh> It would have had to be something unacceptable.

I can't believe we're going through this whole Pearson debate again. It's pointless (just like those terrible runs we had in the Championship and again last season) and irrelevant.

Agreed, I did like Pearson's stance on his loyalty to the club etc but it's refreshing to hear Claudio talk to the media and show enthusiasm. I was dubious about him I'll be honest but I like the guy and he seems very in touch for having had a few years away. I'd have said his first few games would be the toughest to readjust to England but he's aced them. Hopefully we can only get better
