Start your thread Ninsey, this is just the warm up one. And then we can merge them as non QPR related drivel.
Stan do the Kiwi's also have that chip you were talking to Aussie about before? 'The English always carry this consciousness of their grand past and would like to be reminded of their great empire,' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/ru...orld-Cup-says-Blacks-legend-Ali-Williams.html
I read that too, cracked me up. Looks like their chip is on both shoulders, evens itself out. Though why the All Blacks would need to wind the English up at rugby is beyond me. Liked the bit about hating Twickenham. Doubtless Ali Williams would still be scratching about for a living on some godforsaken British moor without his ancestors benefitting from the imperial grand past of England........ He is now claiming to have been taken out of context...
Just Oz, the NZ ones were volunteers. Great history of deportation to Australia called 'The Fatal Shore' by Robert Hughes who was probably more famous as an art critic.
That should wind the All Black's up nicely, filmed with players from Battersea Ironside's, a club I played football for in the late 70s...
Gentlemen, the guy was obviously a rugby forward who parked his melon in one too many scrums .............. need I say more?
They do get very precious about 'disrespect' to their bit of stolen dancing. Good to remind them that they used to do it like this: The French 'disprespect' it best. But I favour ignoring it entirely, just keep warming up. And the English crowd at Twickenham just sing over the whole thing.
I prefer the 'stare down' method of responding to the Haka. I have to say though that a NZ team in full Haka mode is something quite spine tingling.
Today's the day...time to start the Official Rugby World Cup thread Ninsey, with all the bells and whistles you have promised. England win v Fiji tonight, but it will only come in the last quarter.
The Kiwis, if they want, have every right to do the 'haka' but in doing so, no opposition team is required to stand there and take it. They have every right to turn there backs if they feel the need. Personally, I find it offensive to have to stand there and listen / watch that crap. Be buggered if I'd just stand there. I'd probably be giving them the old, 'your out' in cricketing terms ( with the hand turned turned inwards if you know what I mean ) Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter ........... which mean little. ,
Think England will breeze it in, all over by the 30 minute mark. England will will have bigger fish to fry.
You under estimate our ability to make things difficult for ourselves. The Fijians are decent, we may need to wait forthem to tire. Plus we have the distraction of the opening ceremony to deal with, won't even have the usual space to warm up in.
Sorry if this is too similar to the general rugby thread. Feel free to merge. I was a decent player at school but know little about those who play it professionally. I'm putting together a fantasy team though. Any tips?
Yep. Opening games are notoriously difficult and Fiji are no pushovers. I'd take a win by any margin. Really looking forward to this tournament. If England get it right they have a chance playing games at Twickenham.
Let the show begin.....seems to have building up for months now or is that just this thread? Would be nice to see the All Blacks brought down a peg or 3, they do seem to have a self rightous arrogance about them.......A decent England win tonight will put them in good steed for the crunch games against Wales and Australia, this is a ridiculously hard group to get out of compared to the others, did FIFA do the draw?
We should win comfortably tonight, but the Fijians are a tough side. If we come through without injuries I will be a) Surprised and b) Happy. Can't wait now. Swing low etc............................
