Continuing my love in for Sakho - played alongside Moreno AND Gomez, and behind two teenagers in midfielder and still bossed it.
You were right to laugh at your mate and I would encourage you to slap him in future. He's nowhere near the class of Hazard. Lallana's goal was excellent and he seemed to kick on from that for another 10 mins. But was missing for large parts of the game. It's his first start after injury so will cut him some slack. I posed a question on another thread before - would you want a player who can score/assist but do nothing else for the rest of the game OR a player who may not get as many goals/assists but contributes to the style and build of play for 90 mins?
Nice team but if you want to be truly attacking, then swap Can for Lucas, play Coutinho in Milner's position and FIrmino as number 10. The issue with your team IMO is that Hendo and Milner are not quick passers and won't get the ball to the attack. By playing Coutinho deeper, he provides the link from midfield to attack, then Firmino, is a more natural number 10, takes over.
Depends if they went for the draw or not, otherwise got just as many points as predicting balotelli to score
Only listened to this on the radio on my drive home from work. Sounded like we didn't deserve to win but managed to play a team of kids or those that haven't had many minutes so far this year. Also sounded like we still couldn't defend for toffee. I honestly could not describe BR's footballing philosophy. It sure as hell isn't about keeping a clean sheet.....and since Suarez is left, it ain't about good attacking football either!
When listing his attributes, pace isn't something that springs to mind. He often looked like he was treading water when in a foot race with a defender. It was his mind that got him ahead.
Its also why Torres was so good for us. Once that burst of acceleration had gone he was only half the player, if that.
I picked Lucas because like we saw in the 2013-14 season, the two CB's get left isolated so I'd want a DM sat there to help out. If anything, we were to gung-ho that season. I don't think Coutinho is great when played deeper either. Brod tried him there a few times during that 2013-14 season (because SASAS was the trio in front leaving no room for him) and he didn't deliver. With SASAS in front of him providing movement galore, he should have been on fire! No one will convince me Coutinho is better in a position other than AM.
I agree with giving Sakho and Gomez a try, can't be any worse than the chuckle brothers, can it? Think that has the making as a very balanced duo, Gomez having the pace, Sakho the strength and leadership, they're not small either. How did Origi get on last night? Would like to see him given a chance in the PL, see how he gets on in our best eleven.
Where's @Magic / Enricky with the Norwich match day thread... or were you all impressed with mine and hoping I carry on... I know I'm an important member that you al respect and just love the threads I run on here
