I was very undecided whether or not to comment about Ampleforth. Come to think of it, I still am. Don't get me wrong, I didn't go there, and I think if there must be boarding schools, those monks maybe do a relatively decent job. But children really ought to be at home with their family, not sent away into Harry Potter Land. It is about time parents made their own cider and taught their children exactly how to do it. And how to grow apples. And to appreciate dogs.
Yeah but come on, the Swedes have a really odd relationship with booze. Just ask the Danes in Helsingør who put up with Swedish day trippers. How many Brits know about Systembolaget? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systembolaget
In Finland they have a beer called Koff. Those with a childish sense of humor like me love to go into a bar and say "four koff" to the bar man.... For some reason that suddenly reminds my of being in a pub and a fairly dickish acquaintance asking for 12X and when the barmaid got confused he said in a smug voice two pints of 6X to which she shot back oh I didn't know if you wanted 2 pints of 6X or three pints of 4X.
Yeah, you think that's funny. But here's what WE have to put up with in south Denmark if we tune into German television.
I do the ****ers LOL Also it's not odd its just symbiotic...you couldn't eat our food without Aquavit.
Of course there is always root beer. She might have enquired if root twelve root twelve xs were wanted.
I thought you lot drank havtorn juice when you can't afford Systembolaget. Or fermented birch sap. Or ate red mushrooms. Or took a day trip to Denmark!
They say maths and booze don't mix, but there is a thing called recreational mathematics, and I suspect it helps against piss becoming pissier. Take the four fours for example. The idea is to write an integer using four fours and arithmetic operators. For example 4 - 4 + 4/4 = 1. Anyone for 2? How about 4/4 + 4/4 = 2 Okay, you get the idea. Now for 3 ...
Åland would be closer and cheaper for me and you don;t even get off the boat but to be honest what's not to love about Systembolaget? They're hardly ever open, they've a complete monopoly and they are extremely heavily taxed! So when you do actually mange to buy some alcohol think how much you appreciate it.
Let's not put Sweden down because of prohibition or state monopoly. You lot can teach the world about distilling your own ... sprit. I take it sprit or sprut is understood across all Nordic countries despite the languages not being mutually intelligible as many would have it. Hey, those wacky Norwegians know what sprit is! Are you looking forward to winter?
Probably, I used to think I had a wheat and barley intolerance as beers/lagers would generally make me feel really ill. Wine/Cider or fruit based alcoholic drinks no effect whatsoever.
