Funnily enough Sydney, after all the run ins we used to have with Spurs lads after the 'greedy bastard' signing, turns out they have a lot of good lads, with decent views not just of Spurs, but the league in general.

Got a bit buried under the 'Bent vs Defoe' and comparing the clubs history bollocks we had for a season and a half!

Good to see the Spurs fans openly debate, properly, with oppo fans, as on these boards many clubs don't wanna hear an outside opinion.

It isn't clever when it is innaccurate.
    David Bentley: £15m, not £19m
    Luka Modric: £16.5m, not £18m
    Roman Pavlyuchenko: £14m, not £15m
    Robbie Keane: £12m, not £14m
    Vedran Corluka: £8.5m, not £12m
    Wilson Palacios: £12m, not £13m
    John Bostock: £700k, not £1.75m
    Jermaine Defoe: £9m, not £12m
Cesar Sanchez was signed from Real Zaragoza, not "Real Saragossa"

It's not just the players we signed, but also the ones we sold:
    Teemu Tainio: £5m, not £2.5m
    Pascal Chimbonda: £5m, not £2.8m
Steed Malbranque was sold for £7m, but isn't on the list

well according to that it was 6 million for steed, and the site i linked to has got

    Steed Malbranque Spurs ?

    for sunderland transfers.

but thats not really my point anyway lol the point was, that not many teams/managers that get into the top 10 have a small outlay or even profit since they took over, and top 4-6 definately dont. and most of the crap Bruce has had to sell were Championship players, its only really Bent and Henderson where we made a profit on good players, or a player with potential.

Wikipedia has sources for every transfer fee, acknowledges that Steed Malbranque was sold, and can spell Real Zaragoza...

Getting into the top half of the table doesn't have to be a bank-breaking exercise, as demonstrated by Fulham finishing as high or higher when they're balancing the books compared to when they were splurging at regular intervals, and Everton have been remarkably consistant in achieving high finishes for a remarkably small outlay - but in those cases they had Roy Hodgson and David Moyes being worth more than most of the players on the pitch to get them there.

Making a (gigantic) profit on Jordan Henderson was a given, considering he had two things going for his transfer value - the English Premium, and the fact the person doing the buying was Damien Comolli...
