I would go along with that up to a point Dan. He has already chosen his battles by saying that he will not try to remove the monarchy, despite being a republican he has said that he will not go on the offensive on that one. If she wants to call herself Queen and half the country are prepared to do the same then It does not make sense to stir up the issue. However, how can a republican sing this song along with the words it contains ? To do so would smack of hypocrisy.

I'm with Corbyn re the national anthem ...I'm a proud Englishman . but no Royalist . ( ok , understand the English were a Germanic tribe , but is is plain daft that the country has been largely governed by Germans for centuries ).
As a side note ..I found myself walking to the Vic surrounded by a bunch of unpleasant , puny looking Swansea supporters .they were shouting 'orrible anti English sentiments..one even shouted in a young Watford supporters face , poor lad was only about aged 10 ..Copper's passively watched on . I was not intimidated and had to shout out Engerland , one twonk gave me a look ..I have always liked the Welsh ..and surprised by their "banter " ...I understand their manager is English ..I wonder how he feels when he hears such nonsense .

I do not see why Jeremy Labour of the Corbyn Party cannot sing your national anthem. Even as a republican he is a very sad person not to wish God to save someone, even if they are named the Queen. I read he is a professional against everything person but if he wants to get his party elected he needs to compromise sometimes. All American Presidents are church going evangeliskur protestants after all.

If he has promised to sing in future he will compromise his views. I know he is in an impossibly position, maybe he should have stayed a back bencher where his views would be irrelevant. He could then spout his unpopular ideas without any consequence.
His judgement is seriously flawed, this is a guy who has shirked any kind of responsibility all of his political life. He should still be on his way to San Francisco with flowers in his hair.

That is why they are dealing with the most contentious issues at the start of the five years so will all be forgotten in 2020. Fortunately they do have a mandate from the electorate for the changes. Please don't come up with the 'only 24% of the vote' argument as it is completely irrelevant under our political election system.

I have never used the 24 % argument and never would. No need for you to assume anything on my part thank you.

You assumed wrongly I was referring to you.

You responded directly to my post so it was a very fair assumption

    Maybe fair but wrong.

It is Cologne that normally comes up with this type of comment along with his over reliance on political party membership figures which, as most people in the UK know, is completely meaningless..

Unlike yourself I do not keep a list of people's posts to later throw up at them when it is no longer relevant. Also I would be gratefull if any criticism which you have of me is addressed to me and not to other posters.

I do not keep a list of people's posts, I use something called a memory. Your comments on PP membership and the '24%' were irrelevant the first time round. My criticism is firmly based on some of your views not you personally. This is an open forum.

Then address those criticisms at me and not directly to others ! I do not keep a record of everything which you have said in previous posts only to regurgitate them back months later at times when they are not relevant to the discussion in question - I would not be that petty.

24% of the electorate is pretty unimpressive , that leaves a huge number of folk who did not vote for the Tories ....maybe Mr Corbyn will win though after all .
I'm a self confessed dinosaur lefty ...workers rights ,looking after the vulnerable Blah , blah , blah ...less comfortable with multiculturalism, gay rights Blah, Blah blah .
I have recently spoken to young student type Greens and educated ,liberal ,firmly middle class bods ..they have all been impressed by Corbyn .
He is certainly a refreshing / entertaining change from the feeble /nice Mr.Milliband .
Perhaps surprisingly , Corbyn has broad appeal .

Your reluctance to be associated with some of your previous comments is understandable. Hopefully the recent knowledge you may have gained from the undoubted quality of the numerous posters on this forum may have encouraged you to modify your views. That's ok, Corbyn is doing it daily now.

I think you have successfully identified the only minority group apart from the unions. Hardly broad appeal. Can't wait for the imminent polls on his popularity.

It's a waste of time trying to twist my words here, you know exactly what I am referring to. If your only contribution here is to try to wind other people up and belittle other people then I suggest you find a more profitable way of occupying your time, rather than just wasting ours.
