10 points uum! You need to get the better in the heads to heads, So for example beat PSV 1-0 at home, and I think you win if it comes down to that.
Topping the group is less important that in previous years due to the way Uefa have structured the seeding. There's some top class sides as second and even third seeds in this years comp. Highly likely the draw will be difficult regardless of where we finish. Not that topping group is a bad thing, at all.
Man Utd vs Wolfsburg - Draw CSKA vs Man Utd - Draw Man Utd vs CSKA Win Man Utd vs PSV - Draw Wolfsburg vs Man Utd - Loss If we're lucky... Man Utd vs Wolfsburg - Win CSKA vs Man Utd - Draw Man Utd vs CSKA Win Man Utd vs PSV - Win Wolfsburg vs Man Utd - Loss
Expect us to win all our home games tbf. Then if we can win one of the two away games that would be ideal. I would think the CSKA away game is tougher than the Wolfsburg one. Even then, your predicted 10 points may well be enough in this group.
Not sure about that. It clearly worked for Holland but we simply didn't have the players for it. Were even further away from it now. Young as fullback would literally be against cannon fodder. I doubt that applies to any Premier League team these days.
Because the elephant in the room seems to be invisible to some. Truth is, if we play like we did like last night it's nonsense to say we'll win against other teams. Why would we? If we play just the same it'll mean lots of possession and no chances, missing the few we do actually create. Last night was like at Swansea, lots of possession, go one up, and instead of kicking on and winning losing to two break away goals. That's the only common denominator so far, people need to realise that. There is no sign whatsoever we'll suddenly start banging goals in. Hopefully we will obviously but it doesn't look likely on recent evidence, anything but.
Don't blame you. I just found the if we play like we did last night comment hilarious. We lost last night.
Not many sides are going to score all their chances against us to be honest. Well, PSV had 3 all in all but still. I partly agree with you treble, that last half hour was awful. Before that though we were playing well though. But yeh, let's not get into it. For everyone else's sake
Not really UIR, we actually started playing with some tempo and a real desire to score in that last half hour. The problem was it was too little too late bcos we now found ourselves up against a compact well-organised side who were 2-1 up and defending a lead and playing on the break. We should have played with that urgency when we were 1-0 up and they were chasing the game. Here's the thing. United's players are so afraid of losing possession you see players holding back or coming short to receive a pass instead of running beyond the defenders to receive the forward ball. As a result the vast majority of our passing (in the opposition half) gains little territorial advantage. That's as much as I want to say on it tbh.
Immediately after going 1-0 we had a few really good chances. Both Memphis and Smalling (how it was him? No idea) have great chances to kill the game. We should have been 2 or 3 up at half time and the game over. We started the second well enough but were hit on the break and went behind. After that I saw lots of huffing and puffing but It was scruffy. mata had a couple of great chances though and Memphis linked up well with Martial to create a good chance but I felt less confident we would score than in the first. We also looker knackered later on which slowed us down. Add Fellaini into that and it just got ugly.
Yes. Howard Webb agrees.... "“Luke Shaw’s injury was awful and I wish him a speedy recovery,” Webb, who now works as a pundit for BT Sport, said. “But the referee made the right decision. Moreno stretches with his right leg, which plays the ball cleanly. His left leg makes some contact on the follow-through, but it is always tucked away under him and not aimed towards Luke Shaw. Luke is unlucky in that he gets his studs caught and twists, which causes the injury, but on the night, I think the referee made the right decision.” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...by-Hector-Morenos-man-of-the-match-award.html
Graham Poll disagreed but well done you've once again found an article that "proves" your point regardless of how vulgar it is.
You're taking snapshots of 90 mins imo. The Smalling chance was very quickly after we went 1-0 up but the game then petered out into aimless passing for the rest of the half and for the first 15 mins of the second half. That's a long time where we didn't really do much despite having the majority of the ball. I also don't believe the PSV goals were flukes (not that you're saying that) or undeserved. They attacked everytime they won the ball and created their opportunities.
