This idea is shamelessly lifted from the Daily Echo, as the title says, what are your favourite past memories of Sunday's fixture?.
There are plenty of classic matches, but my favourite is this mauling in 1983. I was standing in the little pen in the corner between the West Stand and the Archers and just a couple of rows in front of me was none other than Terry Hall of the Specials, with his girlfried. I don't think he was too happy, because he is a Manure fan and they took a battering that day!.

the one after we had first come up. Lost 3-2, but we were 2-1 up, the better side, then Adkins took off puncheon and Lambert I think, then we ended up losing.

still think we'd have won that if we kept our attacking players on.

Plenty of memories of watching Saints playing ManU. Unfortunately, the one that stands out is the 31,044 at the Dell on a Wednesday night in early October of 1969. We lost 3-0, with Best, Law and Charlton playing. Then again, we'd beaten them at OT during August 4-1. Guess we thought they'd be easy. Under estimating the opposition has been done before and since many times.

Don't ask a normally positive person why a defeat sticks out more than any of the many wins we've had over them, because I don't know either. Barely being able to breathe during some moments of that game has always been a reminder. Then somebody lifted me on top of the wall and I had a great view too, so that gesture probably helps too. :)

Singing Fergie's getting worried when he brought the big guns (Owen is who I remember) on when we were beating them in the cup. What a goal Chaplow scored btw!

My earliest memory of Saints / United games was a home match when Bestie was making his 2nd or 3rd appearance for Utd. and Willie Anderson [I think] was on the opposite wing, they tore us apart, can't remember the score.

Why are you remembering negative stuff when there is a lovely 6-3 Saints win out there....as well as winning in 3 consecutive years, including the infamous shirts debacle.

Yeah, the season after the cup final...early in the season, I think that we went top of the table after it.

Ah, it might've been another game then, but we were definately hovering around the top for the first few months of that season.

My favourite memory probably has to be Chaplow's goal in the FA Cup 3rd (or was it 4th) round tie when we were in League One. Although we lost in the end it was immensely satisfying to take the lead. :)

It was that season but think we were 4th at Christmas after humping the skates 3-0! (Including the below :) )

But if you look at it positively, if we had never gone down that day we may never have been taken over by Markus, never signed Rickie, Jose or Morgan. We almost certainly wouldn't have won the JPT at Wembley. That day shaped our more recent history and it hasn't turned out badly. :)
