I would have happily taken a point before the game, but given the number of chances we are supposed to have wasted then we've clearly thrown away another 2 points against a team that will probably be in the bottom quarter of the league at the end of the season.
Our saving grace might be that this division is one where any team can beat anyone else. Unexpected wins for Huddersfield and Forest last night prove the point, but we need to pick up a few wins sooner rather than later. I reckon the best chance for 3 points is MK Dons at home on 3rd October but we have got to start taking our chances if we are to survive and the rhetoric should be toned down a bit. The football and results should do the talking.
agree with Angelic the lip must be toned down...there should be no basis for such a comment "us being magnificent" for getting a point when in reality with so many corners and shots at goal we should have hung them out to dry I think it was 3-5 shots on target so we should have at least edged it, and what has happened to Flinty so many corners and no goals.. SC lets just put the emphasis on the team not trying to cloud issues with knee jerk rhetoric
The Magnificent Performance SC talks about would have been fine had we won against PNE by a landslide or had we beaten one of the top teams but it's strange to call us magnificent after a draw when we should have won the game. As I've said elsewhere, he has to stay positive but I thought this was a tad OTT...!
Crikey - this is the bloke that won the league last season - let's remember where we were when he took over. Let's also remember SOD's downbeat and frankly embarrasing press conferences. Remember the main people that managers are speaking to via press conferences are the players. The facts are that we played really well and possibly should have won - we got a point away from home that many of us would have taken before kick-off - the players get a boost of confidence before Saturday's game with Reading.
I was there & we where outstanding...love the way cotts team try to win every game, great attitude to have...someone is in for one hell of a beating soon, mark my words.
Well let's hope it's sooner rather than later and that we can find some consistency as we are already approaching the 25% of the season mark.
I was there last night, and some of the first half play was fantastic to watch. Their keeper was man of the match last night voted by their fans, and to be honest his commanding of the area at corners was fantastic. Both teams could of snatched it in the dying minutes, Fielding pulling off a great save. Kilkenny's goal was as sweet of a shot as many I've seen. I don't even think he thought it was going in. If I never despised as much as I do I probably would of clapped the goal it was that good from where we stood behind the goal. I've been impressed with Kodjia this season, and last night turning players inside out was fantastic. We wobbled a bit when they scored, but I would say a huge majority of their shots was from distance, the defence looked better than I've seen so far.
We will also finish in the bottom half, probably bottom six, we will not finish top half of the table in my opinion.
Magnificent is a bit over the top but I understand the reckoning behind SC's comments. No matter how you look at it we still aren't even close to being a team that will compete in our new division. Most on this site are concerned about what we have produced in the new campaign and it doesn't look that good, but if all the managerial positives we have heard since the end of last season don't get backed up by actions then our previous successes will count for nothing. Don't waste the opportunity to build on last season and create a team that can be mid-table this term and then look at what's needed to maintain a challenge next season. How difficult can that be?
thank god for that, someone who was there and can speak truth about us, thanks BJA, I think we will spank someone soon.
So far this season is showing a remarkable closeness of 23 of the teams, I think by game 12 the top teams and bottom contenders will be sorting themselves out for the grand finale. At the moment the 3 strongest teams are Ipswich, Reading and Brighton. and 5 teams Florest Cardiff Midds Hull and Charlton in hot pursuit so they are the top third... all be it not top 8 in the league. ( based on 1 part of my prediction algorythm )
