She can barely walk and yet attends approximately 430 engagements a year and carries out official duties every day. She isn't a pensioner because she still works
Yeah I bet for 100m any of the OAPs could attend those engagements too You are kidding me if you are trying to compare her to average OAPs or suggest she "works hard". She's a figurehead, nothing more, a German one baahahahahahaha She wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire mate
It is public though. George gave up the right for all operation of it in exchange for government taking on his private debt. Now if the Royal family wants to pay a few hundred billion in compound interest to the government for the debts the people of Britain cleared maybe we'll talk. All crown holdings are separate from Liz's personal assets.
The royal family has no rights to them. They gave up those rights. They gave up the rights to own them. To sell them. To collect the profits from them. As writ in law the profits go directly to UK treasury. It's a non issue.
The Queen has many different duties to perform every day. Some are public duties, such as ceremonies, receptions and visits within the United Kingdom or abroad. Other duties are carried out away from the cameras, but they are no less important. These include reading letters from the public, official papers and briefing notes; audiences with political ministers or ambassadors; and meetings with her Private Secretaries to discuss daily business and her future diary plans. Even when she is away from London, in residence at Balmoral or Sandringham, she receives official papers nearly every day of every year and remains fully briefed on matters affecting her realms. Yeah, I reckon the average roadsweeper would trade his job for hers for an extra 1000 per month "her realms"
The days when you are born into a life like that should be gone ffs None of em are there on merit, not one of them
Everyone is born into a life ffs. Is it fair that the middle class kid is born into a nice comfortable life, in nice surroundings, will no doubt get a good education and go off to University and end up with a lifestyle that mirrors his parents.... While a kid born on the same day in a council estate up the road, who's Ma is a pisshead and his father in the nick, will likely go on to achieve low grades at school and end up either unemployed or in a low paid job all his life? I wouldn't want the life of a Royal either, I'd detest being in the public eye 24/7 and having to attend function after boring function A nice few acres in Scotland wouldn't convince me otherwise either. Why are you arsed anyway? You're not paying for it, so you should pipe down
Everyone is born, that's where I stop agreeing with you. My life has changed career wise 4 times within the scope of education I could afford as we were quite poor when I was a kid. Army, Landscape gardner, Glazier and IT. My life was quite different at different times. For example, you cannot start up a bank if you are not from certain families in the UK. Just a snapshot of this system of class. Bloodlines.. you think they are irrelevant to how far you cna make it in certain circles? I certainly disagree. There are few exceptions like Lord Sugar
It obviously is an issue as plenty of people disagree with what would happen to the crown estate and it's silly to think it wouldn't be a lengthy, costly legal process that would more than likely end with a compromised settlement.
Exactly ROFL. Things are so unequal now that people are killing themselves in scores because of this very thing, to the point that the DWP are advising staff on how to deal with suicidal "customers" They ask people with life long diseases to submit to reviews.. INSANE
I can't see it possibly going in the favour of the royals and their lawyers would obviously advise them it's not worth fighting over a lost cause. They would rack up huge legal bills aquire the wrath of the population, etc. If I sued the person who bought the last house off me and said I wanted it back, I'd lose. More significantly than that. Its actually written into law that the royal family cannot claim the assets of the crown estate. In the monarchy abolition act it could also be written that the crown estates are to remain with the people and not return to the royal family. One agreement I would make is allow them to continue letting Buckingham palace for £1 a week for 100 years. Just to keep the tourists happy. They would be responsible for paying utilities.
I didn't say that, so don't put words in my mouth. But the notion that people outside of the aristocracy aren't born into a life either is bollocks. Sure some people can escape their surroundings and social handicaps and go on to achieve a lifestyle way beyond what their parents had, but they are by no means the norm. More often than not peoples lives are governed by where and with whom they landed.
We shall have to agree to disagree! There's plenty of stuff out there that agrees and disagrees with both standpoints from decent sources and the current position (as per the House of Commons clarification) is that the royals would get the crown estate.
No. It really isn't. Why did the queen not realise that Prince Philip used a strap on after all these years?
