He doesn't think we played well at all. The end was a disaster but before that was pretty good and entertaining. Disappointing result made worse with Shaw's injury. Play like that every game and we will win the vast majority.
Pretty much, it was just one of those nights tonight where you play well, and your opponent gets lucky. Paul Scholes also seen the game the way we have
I thought we missed Carrick a lot tonight, many times in the second half we had wide men in acres of space (mostly on the right) but took three passes to work the ball to them allowing plenty of time for defenders to cover. Carrick would have got the ball to them in one pass and let them run.
We look a lot more fluid with a striker like Martial. He gave the PSV defenders a problem. Sure, he was no henry but his movement and directness was welcomed. Rooney would have been fairly static. The defence let us down today. Was a little flat (first time its been changed all season tbf) And disjointed.
I suspect he would have come on bit the Shaw injury and going behind meant that it wasn't feasible. Agree though, BFS was knackered towards the end too and along with Fellaini, our play really slowed down. Had shaw not gone off, Carrick would have come on early in the second, either for or alongside BFS, depending on the score.
Only Arsenal of this year's PL teams in the Champions will qualify from the group stages. I wait for this prediction to be rammed down my throat by your guys. Fair enough but do we really want Chelsea around? Nah!!
Basti covered a **** lot of ground tonight, Carrick would have made the job much easier for him. I think Herrera is one of our best players but he is no holding midfielder, he is wasted unless he is further forward. Mata had a nightmare tonight and it could have been better to replace him with Carrick and push Herrera into the 10 role.
We need more than Arsenal to qualify to keep our coefficient up. I can't see any of us going past the last 18 (dependant on draw) but at least getting through the groups earns some points.
Clearly, Rojo means sideways in Spanish. Did he play the ball forward once last night? I thought that once he came on we lost some of the fluency going forward that had been so effective. Hopefully he just needs some game time.
Reports that Shaw will miss the rest of the season and the Euros next summer. Massive blow for him, United and England. Couldn't give a **** what the bitters say about him, his weight and the transfer fee, he's been quality this season and everyone in the game rates him very highly. Would be a great shame if he doesn't make a full recovery.
As a Saints fan I was pleased that Shaw was starting to show the form that persuaded United to fork out £30mill for him. Gutted to hear of his injury which has happened at precisely the wrong time for him, United and England. Hope he makes a full recovery and gets back to the form he was in before his injury.
It's a terrible shame, especially given how hard he's worked on his fitness. Hope he can keep his spirits up.
