The facilities available are good, plus there’s a cracking view of the game, although you are a little set back from the pitch. On the concourse alcohol is available and a really good selection of food. Visiting Hull For such a long trek to Hull it’s worth spending more than a few hours in the area. Hull has cracking nightlife which is really busy on weekends. Along with the regular hotel chains that run Express by Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Hull Marina, Ibis Hull Hotel and Mercure Royal Hotel there are independent hotels and many cheap B & B places in the Spring Bank area. Hull New Theatre (HU1 3HF) has the ‘The Bon Jovi Experience’ on the Saturday before the game, tickets are £17.50. I’ve seen them in Swansea and they are quite decent. From Wednesday for 4 nights, Madame Butterfly is there with tickets are from £28. The night after the game, Tres Amici are the Hull City Hall (HU1 3RQ), tickets are £13.50 from the venue on 01482 300300. Hull has a number of museums as well as exhibitions on during the weekend of our game. It has plenty of country parks and open countryside for those wanting to blow away the cobwebs. For more information, check out www.visithullandeastyorkshire.com Pubs and Grub ‘The Brickmakers’ (HU3 6JB) is opposite the stadium car park entrance; it has a good atmosphere and Hull fans there are friendly. It has a big screen showing sports and a burger van outside. Nearby is ‘The New Walton Club’ (HU3 6JR) which costs £1 to get in. It has good cheap beer, is a decent size and does match-day food such as burgers and chips. Turn right out of the main car park entrance and it’s down the road on the left hand side. Further down Walton Street, on the corner with Anlaby Road, is ‘The Boot Room’ (HU3 6NS). There are loads of other pubs within a few minutes’ walk, but these are for home fans only. Most Hull fans still go to pubs around Boothferry Park. These should be avoided by Swans fans, ‘The Silver Cod’ a no-go pub for away fans is now closed. You can head for the nearby city centre, where there are plenty of pubs to be found. I’ve been to the ‘Linnet & Lark’ – now called ‘The Bowery’ (HU5 3QA) loads of times. It’s a big pub with many TVs showing Sky & BT Sports. It’s a 15 minute walk from the stadium, going across the pedestrian footbridge over the railway line. There are a number of other pubs along Princes Avenue, there’s ‘Pave Bar’ (HU5 3QA), which has a great selection of beers from all around the world and decent food. They do a ‘match-day special’ of pint, pie, peas and mash for £6. There’s loads of parking in the streets off the avenue. Around a 15 minute walk up Walton Street, is ‘The Avenues’ pub (HU5 3TS), a Sizzling pub. If walking to the stadium from the city centre, The Punch Hotel (HU1 3RA) is next to the Princes Quay shopping centre, not far from the train station and does great homemade food. Also ‘The Admiral of the Humber’ (HU1 2NT) is a Wetherspoons pub on Anlaby Road and near Hull Paragon Railway Station. On the way to the stadium there are many pubs on Spring Bank, including ‘The Editorial’ (HU3 1AB). Unfortunately ‘The Tap and Spile’ (HU3 1LP), another decent pub I’ve been to a few times is currently closed. Parking & Train The stadium has a huge car park (£5) for home and away fans. If you get there early and want to go into the city centre, there’s a park and ride bus back and forth. It can take 30 minute to get out if you park a long way from the exits. There are two exits from the car park onto Walton Street. The right hand exit is the quickest to leave by. There’s a Park & Ride signposted off the A63 (shared with home fans). Parking at The Hull Royal Infirmary (HU3 2JZ); is £5 for 4 hours and a 15 minute walk to the ground. The housing estate opposite the Infirmary has lots of free on street parking space without parking restrictions. Many fans park in the town centre car parks and walk to the stadium. The Pryme Street multi-storey car park (HU2 8PH) is open until 19:30. There’s also an NCP car park at the end of Pryme Street and council car parks off Freetown Way. Many areas near the stadium are residents only parking and you may be ticketed. Street parking is within a 5 minute walk; pass the stadium on your left. Go over the flyover, and turn right at the now closed ‘The Eagle’ (HU3 2SE) then take the 2nd right into Cholmley Street then 4th right into the Boulevard. Side streets off here have no parking restrictions. To get to the ground, walk to the top of the Boulevard and go up the pedestrian walkway to the stadium. To get home go the other way down the Boulevard, then left into Hessle Road, then the roundabout takes you onto the A63 (Clive Sullivan Way) and M62. By Train The stadium is a 20 minute walk from Hull Paragon station. Turn left at the end of the platform and then left into the bus station. Walk past Tesco on your right, cross over Park Street at the traffic lights. Following blue pedestrian signs to KC Stadium passing a chip shop. Cross Argyle Street and onto pedestrian walkway and bridges over railway lines to stadium. For away end turn right at the bottom of steps. Trains to Hull from Swansea leave at 07:44, 07:58, 08:28, 08:53, 09:28, & 09:55 for the 6 hour 15 minute journey. No trains back to Swansea after the game so a sleep-over is needed.
****ing hell. That's a better bit of advertising than I've ever seen from anything in Hull, especially the council, but also literally anyone else. Can we sign them up to do the City of Culture advertising??
Other than thinking most fans still drink near BP (and a slightly outdated view of Cod...which is open again isn't it?) that is a really good article
Some of the lads who meet outside cod and brownies wouldn't be very accommodating to away fans in my view?
I realise that I more meant that it isn't such a popular place to meet and he said it was closed, but I think it's open again
