What is a most un-cruiser like way.? Are you chucking it around corners and giving it big handfuls of throttle.?
My bike has no center stand, yet every fluid check requires the bike to be upright! Which is why I think I'm going to buy a paddock stand to use with my existing cover, as much as I like the look of that pop up hanger TSS posted.
Mainly because it feels so safe I am indeed throwing it around corners and enjoying the long, loud wail a big handful produces. Amazing that the small Guzzis produce the same HP now (as 750s) as they did in the 1970s as 500s. That's emission controls for you. They do produce a lovely smooth power delivery and a load of torque though. The stands are hen's teeth second hand and there is a minefield of different versions out there, expensive to get wrong. You also need some sort of stand/lift to fit the stand, if um, you see what I mean. It'll be serviced/moted at MotoCorsa in the spring and they'll fit it for me at the same time. Until then it's wind checks, frowning at gradients and the occasional prayer. Not as bad as my Neval (= Cossack) 650 I bought new in 1989. The sidestand was made of a material similar to cheese (as also. I found out later, were several of it's internal components). First time I parked it up outside the Park Hotel in Shirley I almost got inside before I heard the crash.
Fab bike, bullet proof engines, handle well and are simple enough to still be able to maintain them - my next bike will probably be an old XT or DR (or a Honda XL to be honest)from early 80s.
I find small children are useful for this. Sadly holding the front off the ground while you remove the wheel seems beyond them, even when they're bigger.
I used to get my girlfriend to hold it, cue cries of "hold it still!" and "you're tipping it!". Now I shove a couple of books under the kickstand and do it that way. Upon proper inspection of my bike... The fairing came away unscathed, but the right indicator is cracked and hanging off and the brake lever has been bent into a C shape. Tomorrow I will check it all over and if everything works will count myself lucky. The cover is staying off until these winds die down.
About once every 3 months I do a look about on ebay. But every time I'm disappointed. People seem to think that a well thrashed XT, DR or XL is worth huge amounts of money. What may be keeping their prices lofty is that the equivalent bikes from the 90s to today are way too complicated for the average semi-capable person to want to bother with getting their hands dirty. I could look after one of the early ones without any trouble at all. I've got all the tools. I've even got a bike table which is elevated by a jack.

That does actually look quite good. Generally, I'm against remakes - but I can see why you'd remake this.
Same here. The Disney "live action" remakes so far have looked bad to me. The ones Disney are talking about doing next don't interest me either (Dumbo etc).
The problem they have is crossing the "uncanny valley". When things look almost life like, viewers often become repulsed. Lots of theories why (including a survival instinct to keep away from corpses) but it's a reason why animations of human beings are kept at a lower gade than could be achieved with current techniques. Without looking at the link, I suppose that could be why we are slightly repulsed by life-like robots. There are ones made in Japan that very life-like indeed now and they are a bit creepy, in all honesty. EDIT: OK, curiosity got the better of me and I clicked your link, to be faced with a life-like robot made in Japan.
