Villa's £10m offer for The Zog has been rejected according to SS so looks like whelan is holding out for £12m as prev reported, so we were probs right to pull out!

12m for a player on the final year of his contract is a lot of money , but if it was up to me I would pay it.

who cares if its the last year on the contract, dont see how that makes him that invaluable, id rather pay 12m and get him than not get gim on a free in the summer

    Villa's bid rejected,
    N'Zog feels dejected,
    Hopes it can be resurrected.

Let's instead pay 12m for a worse player with 3 years left on his contract!

Looks like Whelan is playing hardball. He knows that there are a few clubs interested who have money available and want a proven creative premier league player. He is obviously banking on one of the teams getting desperate enough to match his price before the end of the window. I predict a final day £12m sale with lots of backwards and forwards stories inbetween.

Can't say I blame him, as a percentage of wealth he probably puts more in than any other owner in the league and he knows that he will be unable to bankroll his club for more than a few years (said so in an interview recently) so he wants to maximise the money he can get whilst he can so that he can leave the club in the best financial position he can. Good luck to him I say!

If Downing's worth 20m...then Zog should at least be worth...hold up, I don't want to give Wigan any ideas

All that will happen is teams will not bother bidding and talk to him in January and Whelan will look like a knob

I think you were going to say £6 million... but only to Newcastle.

    There you go Mr Whelan.

I'd still pay it, I think he would fit into any club in this league...

This sounds about right <ok> 6 months for a £6 million saving ..

Skillful player = yes without doubt
Arsehole who would cut and run as quick as look at you for a few quid extra = yes without doubt - at which point we'd all be bemoaning Ashley and Pardew wasting bundles of cash on a mercenary ..

Any N'Zogbia deal just smells wrong to me at the moment .. I think we're better of stearing clear ..

    Transfer deadline day anyone?

A panicked Wigan and a Zog who wants out will be a good mix for bidders.

see where your coming from but the fact he's going into the last year of his contract and only left us because jfk insulted him might say different.he was without doubt the main reason Wigan stayed up he didn't sulk when our bid in jan was rejected he got on with helping them stay up i think the lad is paying for comments said years ago people do mature and grow up ....ahem Barton anyone

I don't think it was really the JFK comment that led to his departure.

He'd seen what was going on with the club and simply wanted out before it all fell apart. The Insomnia quip was just an added excuse to leave quickly.
