Out of interest Nass are you such named after this race, and does the Board come from the great mare Ouija Board? Hence NassauBoard?!
yes that is quite right, was at the track that day and it was just one of the most memorable sporting moments I have seen live.
Yes indeed, I very much like your choice Great mare I remember it myself well, think Ouija was evens if I recall correctly and I put on slightly more than I could afford at the time! Was so ****ting it I went into the car to listen on the radio, as I couldn't bear to even watch the race in the bookies! From the commentary between the 2 horses Alexander and Ouija my heart was in my mouth as it did seem very very close and obviously it was! Great mare, 2 great mares in fact and one helluva a race! Probably my favourite mares race of the year. Just don't start me on Lush Lashes and Mr Manning

You had to mention that ride by Mr Manning. I still have nightmares over that race. I have been a regular at the meeting since Ouija Board's win which was my first trip to a racecourse (long time fan when a child and at University) and I love the meeting because of that special day and also the stunning scenery. The first race on the trip was won by a German bred horse called Numeric of Gosden's, I had a nice dabble on that and we thought racing was such an easy sport!! It won at 8s and was the only ray of joy for my betting at the course, that day and ever since!! Think it was 8/1 SP and I had it at 10s. In the Nassau Stakes I backed Nannina (whose first runner as a dam should be soon - Prince Of Firenze of SMS') and my now wife had a fair bet on Ouija Board at 5/4 if I recall (may have been evens) and I remember just shouting for Ouija Board all the way down the last 4 furlongs as she tussled with Alexander Goldrun. I may have lost my voice that day. My other memories of the glorious meeting normally involve dodgy rides, the most obvious being Mr Manning's when I had a major double with River Proud of the Cole yard (won race before at 5/2). I think it would have paid almost 4 figures!! Needless to say I still do not like Mr Manning!! I am off to the raceday again this year, probably to see Midday attempt her treble in the race. Nothing like standing near the rail when the Stewards Cup field thunder into the final furlong!!
Hi Everyone, Haven't been able to get on as much of late but noticed some decent winners so keep up the good work all. Been given two today hope for a quick fire e/w double... 2:30 Ayr - Eraada (NAP) 2:45 Yar - Tiberius Claudius e/w Good Luck..
Nass you'll have a fantastic time, I'll probably also be supporting Midday in her quest for what I'd guess would be a first treble in the race?? I'm not sure if that's correct but it would be hard enough to imagine a mare having won this race three times? The thing that especially bug bears me about Lush Lashes was I'd followed her before the race (Jim Bolgers mares I'd love to know what he feeds them as they are Tough with a capital T) and backed her heavily at 6-4 in the morning of the Nassau...We know what happens with Halfway to Heaven getting a clean run through whilst Manning heads down about 3 closing passages. I then was a Leopardstown for the rematch in the Matron Stakes with Lush Lashes and Halfway to Heaven topping the bill. In my perverse strive for redemption I thought to myself 'If I back Lush and she's beat again I'll not be happy' so went for HtH this time, thinking the mile trip should suit her better. And of course Lush Lashes gets her rewards whilst I have another losing ticket in me hand
She would be the first triple times winner of the race if she was able to win the race, two others won it twice . Lush Lashes returned to racing didn't she?
She did indeed, I was actually down at Ltown for her comeback last summer, in which she finished 4th I think. Unsuccessful as a broodmare I think was the reason for that, but she didn't achieve much when she returned unfortunately.
My sole bet of the day is running now. Favourite in the 215 Rayvin Black. One for you all to put a line through no doubt I hate short priced favourites in maidens but thought this ones first run in a better race than todays looked the strong form pick. Mr Fallon on board was the icing on the cake Al Zarooni's looks a threat though.
Won very nicely when Al Zarooni's unseats at the start. My selection went with relish early but nowhere near good enough.
Good stuff Mr Fallon, thats my Open bet recouped which I lost on Northern Ireland's second best golfer Rory McIllroy.
Cheers Cyc, though it's not hard to pick 5/4 favourites so I just count myself lucky he relished the ground and as Nass points out my danger not playing ball at the start
Fresa wins on third run for Sir Mark P, I think the horse needs to read the yards rulebook. Frustrating as my selection looked the winner at points and traded very short. Didn't see it out well enough though.
