Just a quick look around some of the other teams boards and you have to wonder..do some fans think their club has a devine right to win all the time?

By far the worst example of this is the Chelsea lot. Currently running are threads such as...

    The relegation battle now begins.

Thanks Jose (again) now **** off

Our back line. Worst defense in the league?.

It wasnt so long ago this little club in London were nothing more than a yoyo club (similar to ourselves). Winning nothing going nowhere. Then they got lucky and hit the jackpot.

Won leagues. Won cups (european and domestic). Signing some of the best players in the world (then sending them out on loan).

So have they been brain washed into thinking that they now have a devine right to success?

Imagine if they still had to endure season after season of mediocre football that both NE teams put up with.

Would they pull in the crowds that safc and nufc do?

Or would they once again fade into the shadows?

    They should think themselves lucky.

Totally agree mate..Expectation levels are crazy with football supporters at times. However, I dare bet if we had a few successful seasons we would have supporters saying exactly the same as theirs if the same happened..

    Oh for sure Raw.

5 games in and they have hit the panic button. As if they will be in a relegation battle. There is more chance of maggie thatcher turning up at the next labour party meeting than that happening.

But do they expect to much? Theres other top teams and several rapidly improving.

The panic button was getting the **** kicked out of it after just 2 games on here <doh>

Like RAW said, expectations can be crazy at times.

So they're wanting rid of the most successful manager they've ever had after just 5 games? <doh>

But their panic button seems to be not winning the title. They will still be in the top 4 and will probably win at least one trophy.

Would their crowds dwindle if these expectations are not reached?

That club has won four times as many titles since Abramovich took them over in 2003 than they did in their first 98 years! They were founded in 1905 and won their only ever pre-Abramovich title in 1955. They've won it four times in the last 10 years. It's the same in the FA Cup - they first won it in 1970 and got another in 1997. They've won it twice as many times since Abramovich. Before 2003, they were pretty much a nothing club. Abramovich has worked wonders there, and they should never forget it.

It's not that long ago that Charlton fans wanted Alan Curbishley out because he wasn't good enough to get them in to Europe. They got their way and we all know what happened next. They got ahead of themselves with expectations because of a few years of relative success. I'm sure we have plenty who would be exactly the same.

It usually only takes a few years of underachieving (relatively) to bring expectations down a bit - think Liverpool who used to win everything (top 4 would be a great success) or Leeds who had a great few years and now a Championship play off place would exceed all current expectations.

Man City another club. Up until about 10 years ago, maybe not even that. I always thought they were a club very much like ourselves. Good support, a club that didn't really challenge for anything and always bouncing up and down between the leagues.

Fast forward to the League Cup final and as their players were lifting the trophy, the fans were boarding the tube to get back home <doh>

City were a big club in the 60s through having an outstanding team under a manager called Joe Mercer. League champs, cup winners, cup winner cups winners and playing outstanding football. Coach was Malcolm Allison who fancied he should be manager because he was inspirational to the team so old Joe got eased out and City did little after that. They even did a Newcastle by losing a huge points lead when Allison signed Rodney Marsh and changed the system to suit him and that lead to losing another championship. Managerial appointments are dodgy at the best of times but it was one of the worst as the brakes were taken off Allison and tragedy ensued.

Give me a wise old head over potential every time.

If Chelsea fans really want rid of Jose, I hope he notices that there's only 2 years at best left in Di ... er ... er ... <laugh>
