Prevention is better than the cure, its a pity that the government don't think about this when they make snap cuts without thinking about the repercussions. For example, a way to tackle obesity is to start from children early on and give them proper education, as well as the parents. But the government are busy slashing jobs and campaigns in the civil service that hope to solve this situation. Their philosophy is to tax everything that is bad for you like sugar, but this isn't going to stop people from eating it, they will find a way, they always do.

Trouble is that most Govts don't think beyond the next 5 years. Preventative work is usually long term and involves ongoing costs, albeit being cheaper in the long run compared having to use acute services down the line. But they are the costs that are easy to slash because (1) Govts try and limit their long term investment into projects that outlive the life of their parliamentary term (2) They are not headline grabbing initiatives (3) Primary care is also woeful under resourced so money gets funnelled into acute services.

I spent the best part of two decades banging the drum for preventative work in mental health. I lost count of the number of times I went to budget meetings with senior executives to be asked 'How much ?' and 'How long will it take ?'. The NHS is a numbers game: get the most amount of people through the system for the least cost in the quickest time possible. The revolving door analogy of patient care is lost on businessmen. If they get unwell again, so what ? They'll come back into the system and we'll count them again and claim we've treated more people.

A non-religious republican didn't sing God Save The Queen? I'm shocked.

All questions are easy when you either don't answer them or redefine what things actually mean in order to do so.

There's no housing problem because we've built Affordable Housing, which actually isn't.
Shelter recently found that there are 43 houses in Greater London which are affordable to the average young family buying their first property.

"Why are you taking tax credits away from working families?" Here, have a non-sequitur.
"Mental health services are in the toilet." We need to work together, so have some whataboutery.

They need to lock the ****er in the chamber until he actually answers a bloody question with something relevant.
It's an epidemic with politicians at the moment, which is why people are embracing anyone who appears to give an honest opinion, even when they don't.

You better believe it. Affordable housing in London is the joke of the century and it's going to get a whole lot worse with these duplicitous Conservative fckers in power.

    Corbyn the man of principles.

Refuses to sing the national anthem one minute, changes his mind the next.
Wants rid of the Monarchy, but is to accept membership of the Privy Council.
The old windbag's principles clearly count for nothing.

    Corbyn the leader.

Too afraid to take responsibility at his first PMQ's so ignores his duty as party leader and hides behind Joe Public's questions.

His short reign is going to be comedy gold right to the bitter end <laugh>

What do you think of boris' comments about Jeremy missing the England game so he can deal with his constituents issues?

(Thinking about it, I haven't seen anything from boris wishing Ireland or Wales good luck or that he's attended their games - or that he will attend Scotland's game)

Ridiculous. It's a sporting event that he missed in order to actually do his job.
Just more Tory "He Hates Britain! <grr> " spin.

More like he hates England. Generally the Tories don't even realise there are countries other than England (look at the disdain they treated Scotland with during and after the referendum)
