Until the £ crashes, which it will, because Germany will make the euro stick. Besides it is in the interests of everyone in the EU to have it. Each time you swap the £ for the euro, the banks take a good profit of what is your money and that is not right.
Ever heard of George Soros? And look at the scaremongering in the papers today, some saying that the Unions are hellbent on bringing down Cameron's Government via strikes and protests. These headlines are designed to scare people, to possibly encourage the money men to sell off the £, and down it will go. And when there are stories about output slowing, the £ will drop leaving you less money in your pocket to buy the things you like. Up will go the price of electricity and gas with a falling £.
There's nothing like a good conspiracy theory. "These headlines are designed to scare people, to possibly encourage the money men to sell off the £" made me genuinely laugh out loud. Given that most conspiracists think that the papers are directed by the government via Murdoch, it would be very odd that they are directing Murdoch to make the pound crash. But then, perhaps that's what they want me to think. Vin
I did some charitable work today. "Windows Support" called me again. Apparently my PC's in a terrible state. A record 38 minutes this time with them taking over a virtual machine I made earlier for just these occasions. He finally cracked after I told him my credit card number was 5404 4012 00MA LWKG. Called me some choice names in Hindi, the rotter. I suggested he get a job where he's not trying to steal money off people. I do feel sorry for the individuals; I'm sure they need the job. However, I saw a nice old dear on some TV programme who'd handed over £1,800 to these people over a few months. So I made it my duty to give half an hour or so of my life to slow down their search for the susceptible. The odd thing is I've done this half a dozen times and they still keep calling. Who's the gullible one here? Vin
Avatar Change. Elia's gone and I needed to change to something else (not a player so I won't have to change every season). Won't change it again. Unless I convert. Vin
My theory on the whole Corbyn thing, for what it's worth... I see him taking Labour back off towards the left, and weeding out some of the 'same old' politicians and Blairites from the prominent areas of the party. For a number of reasons - including the fact he is 66 and never really had any desire to be PM - I think he will step aside in the year(s) leading up to the election in 2020. At which point, I think a younger, perhaps more fresh and 'electable' leader will arrive on the scene and pull Labour back towards the centre ground but not as far as they were prior to Corbyn's election. At which point, Labour might have a shot at the Tories in 2020, but more likely in 2025. Corbyn, to my mind, is there for one thing and one thing only. To reform Labour and take it back towards what it used to be. I don't think he wants to lead the country and I think his rise has been pretty unprecedented, even to his own mind.
Australia PM Tony Abbott unseated by Malcolm Turnbull Well it couldn't have happened to a nicer man, could it?
I hope he does wind up getting Labour to be more left. But I can see the infighting being so bad that he has to resign. I could see Labour not changing at all.
The challenge with moving farther left is that since 1990, every election has been won by whoever holds the middle ground. Both the Tories and Labour have swivel-eyed loons. The secret is to keep them away from writing your policies and alienating the voters, most of whom are in the middle ground of opinion. I've said it before, every government needs a strong, credible, electable opposition and I fear we're not going to have one in Labour. Vin
I've seen some discussion on the prospect of the left of the Tories and the right of Labour moving to the Lib Dems, whose leader, Tim Farron, is supposedly not against the idea of reforming as 'Social Democrats' or such like. That could be pretty interesting.
I knew some one would say that ha. I fractured my left thumb two months back. The fracture has healed but I have my thumb in a latex support due to ligament damage. I could be out for another month yet depending on how physio goes.
