As much as UIR and I dont agree on much, there's nothing in that article to suggest UIR needs to defend anything.

Rooney and Carrick seeing a manager to say the mood in the dressing room "was flat" after a couple of poor results is hardly an indictment of the relationship between the manager and players <laugh>

Ofcourse it suits the media narrative atm so the next time one of them blows their nose I'm sure LVG will be blamed for them catching a cold.

"They told me to help me. I communicate not only with my captains, they try to warn me." - in his own words they came to warn him. That suggests there was something boiling up that needed to be dealt with. This article and LVGs own comments back up that there was an element of truth to the previous stories reported.

I was mainly posting it because of UiR going off on one about how it definitely wasn't true and without any quotes it was just made up nonsense. And then LVG has confirmed the situation definitely 100% did occur <laugh>

Edit: UiR had literally laughed at the idea of Rooney and Carrick going to speak to LVG!

What exactly was it that 100% occurred? Player discontent? A bust up? Nothing like it. "I dont just communicate with my captains, they warn me" is his way of saying the relationship is a two-way street. You're reading too much into one word that's probably more to do with LVG's language rather than any deeper meaning you're trying to gain from it.

Captains warn manager that mood is flat after two poor results. He goes in and has open discussion with players to improve the mood. Dont see anything wrong with that tbh. Btw I'm not saying his manner doesnt grate on players he manages. Just saying that, the article doesnt support that.

I didn't say it was evidence of some huge bust up. But clearly the players haven't been feeling happy about how things are, Rooney and Carrick have gone to talk to the manager to warn him people aren't feeling great about where things are at and so he goes to talk with the squad. Those details were reported in the press and UiR literally laughed at the idea of Rooney and Carrick going to speak with LVG about the feeling of the team. LVG has now confirmed the dressing room wasn't feeling good and Rooney and Carrick did come to warn him about it.

LVG has confirmed 100% that certain things did happen. Regardless of whether it makes any difference or how deep the unhappiness goes is irrelevant to the point I was making which was to have a laugh at UiR being so sure of himself only for LVG to come out and confirm the events did take place.

Probably a good idea to read back. I said it was probably a discussion and we already know Rooney and van Gaal talk often.

    Not really.

The previous stories reported that "A delegation of senior Manchester United players has confronted Louis van Gaal over his training methods". LVG confirmed that his captains told him the mood in the dressing room was a bit flat after some bad results and performances. There's a world of difference there.

I can't see any of UIR's posts laughing at the idea of Rooney and Carrick going to speak to LVG. But I can certainly see him laughing at the idea of Rooney and Carrick leading some delegation of pissed off players to confront him over his training methods. Something LVG has just categorically confirmed didn't happen.

Also instructive that the originally article refers to this 'confrontation' happening "several weeks ago". Makes me wonder which of the players we sold in the last week of the transfer window has decided to leak a bit of **** on the way out the door...

I quite like that LvG has respect for the senior players at the club like Rooney and Carrick. The negative spin on the story is all just newspaper guff and I'm surprised people keep falling for it.
