So every fan who entered every ground during the 80's were morons? Jeez, talk about a generalisation!! While the hooligan element (at every club) was awful, I don't think that anyone can argue that fans of all clubs at least had a tangible affinity with that club......and understood what was at the very core of the heart of the club. I don't see that anymore.......at any major club. Smaller, less fashionable teams (with respect) have much more of this than larger clubs nowadays......I think this was the point that was being made.

 

So because thugs (pretty much what you're getting at unless you mean the lack of social media) attended games all fans were morons #genius #credibility

 

Obviously no Liverpool fan is going to say it how it is. Some still believe they were the better side last season so its to be expected.

But you were nowhere near. The only bit you have got right is how **** you guys were. Like Moyes' United in the same fixture 2 years ago.

United scored 3 goals, they therefore deserved to win.

You lot were tepid throughout. You lack a leader on the pitch imo. It was in games like that were Gerrard so often lead from the front.

i will add that we also have a very unbalanced squad due to lack of defenders particularly FB - and thats not even considering the quality of the defenders we have

I did state no all of them, but enough to matter.

The culture was different back then. It wasn't always better as some like to think. In many ways the game as a whole is better now, on and off the pitch.

But Utd never controlled it from start to finish.

They had slightly more possession (and were better organised than us in possession), we had more shots on target and the corner count was equal.
The big difference was that Utd took more of their scoring opportunities than us.

We controlled it from the off. At no point were you in the game at all.

 

We were "in the game" until the 86th minute when the 3rd went in, at 2-1 we could have snatched an unlikely draw.

No. The game itself is far worse. It's not affordable to most, especially to working class locals. It's played by prima Donna's (all teams) who are payed ridiculous amounts of money and are loyal only to their bank balance and good, loyal fans are fleeced every season at the drop of a hat. Obviously, the hooligan element will never be missed but are you for real? You really think that football is better overall? (you may have to take your rose tinted glasses off here......I appreciate that you enjoyed incredible success during those years but for the average footy fan up and down the country
