Ok im gonna sound really daft and naieve here. But surely there are deep watered ports in England. (Portsmouth etc) where they start to build a new base for the nuke subs.

Then we just pull them out of scotland and leave them to their own devices.

Spend that 50 billion or whatever it is in England. Create jobs in england. Boost the economy of england.

Am i making any sense here or just being to simplistic?

Makes perfect sense to me and will happen if ever Scotland gets independence. Cameron is trying to tie the Scots in to GB by giving them all of these jobs in something the that SNP say they don't want. The SNP are far from happy about all of this investment in Scotland as it cuts across one of their key principles i.e. no to trident.

I think it will mate. The Scots will see an unelectable Labour Party south of the border and know they'll be stuck with Tory government for years. And thats something completely anathema to the Scots who's culture is inherently left wing by nature.

Personally I think the man is a shiny eyed fruitcake who, when his policies are dismantled in public, will probably have a nervous breakdown; probably going to divide the Labour Party, as has shown in this debate already

I am actually quite happy with the result. I am not a supporter of Corbyn at all, I think his views on education for instance and ill informed and crazy. BUT I don't really like the direction the conservatives are going, he will keep them in check and keep them in power so for me it's a good result.

Blair and his cronies had plenty to say against Corbyn and the three losers were Blairites.

Is this a vote for Corbyn or a vote against the Tony Blair fan club?

Just a thought hoyed into the mix.

I am left of center in my political thinking, but to stand against the established order of government in this country takes some doing, I wish him well and would love to see him succeed. But fear far too many vested interests will see to it that it wont happen. Its a shame he was not PM when MG was the man in the Kremlin we would have had a much safer world with these two in control.

I think he's a decent bloke who could do well for Labour if he drops his support for causes that the British public tend not to give a **** about, e.g. Hamas.

Personally, I couldn't have stood for another Tony B. Liar clone & I doubt he's the disaster the Tories think he'll be.

I myself think Trident is a crock of ****e, albeit that most on here seem to want it.

It's probably and hopefully never even going to come into use. However, when that day comes, you would be so grateful that we retained it.

Trident gets us a place on the UN Security Council, i.e. it gives us a say in the world we live in. Without it, we'd be pipsqueaks.

Should get this by virtue of being the nominal leader of the Commonwealth and its billions of citizens. Trident is still a bunch of arse as far as I'm concerned.

Say what you like about nuclear weapons but they are a deterrent.
India & Pakistan loathe each other but the fact that they both have them has stopped them breaking out WW3.
Nee **** picks on North Korea do they? Or Iran or China.
And I doubt Sid that you'd feel the same way if you worked at Faslane naval base.
During the Cold War, nuclear weapons stopped it kicking off big style.

I spent two years of my life guarding them at Faslane and Coulport. Faslane the subs. Coulport the bunkers. ****ing freezing part of the world.

Thats where my user name comes from.

Only if you deem a torch and a wooden baton as useful as a pistol and a rather nice pump action shotgun.
