Hard working as ever, worked his socks off. We've got forwards with ability who'll graft which is what we've sorely missed, it's usually had working but ****e, or gifted yet lazy, or in the case of Fletcher **** and lazy. Once everybody is up to full fitness I see goals coming from everywhere. Borini is a great addition who's going to fit in well. Big shout out to Kaboul. He was excellent today.
Unreal a Sunderland team that you genuinely think more then 1 person could score! For too long we have had 1 possibly 2 threats. A fit AJ as a impact sub would have tore Spurs apart today
looking at our line a place on the bench is the best AJ can expect at the moment. He's a great impact sub so it suits me. Him and Watmore as bench options will give us some late game impact.
Definitely. Just wish we had a decent Striker option on the bench but hey, we were shocking last season and Rome wasn't built in a day. Good progress and god I've ****ing missed Borini!
Even if somebody didn't rate Borini they'd have to admit that he's got balls (throwing himself into tackles without any regard for his own safety) and he works like a beast for the good of the team. Two things that historically as SAFC fans we like a lot.
I was dead set against Borinni tbh but we are a much better team with him in there with Defoe and Lens, and with DW and AJ on the bench we can hopefully forget about the two under achievers..
Said in an earlier Borini article, him or Wickham and Borini all day long and todays game summed this up for me. Only negative was that we waited (transfer) until late on which means still lacking match fitness but he’ll be up to speed asap. Great Signing.
We got beat today but look at the positivity, not just on this post, but our board tonight. Onwards and upwards.
Borini was rapidly becoming a bit of a crowd hero last time he was here, and looked every bit as good today. His only problem is goals - in 2013-14, he scored seven for us - three of them penalties. Four from open play in a season isn't enough. Having said that, he'll get a few more chances in this team than he did in that one, so let's see what he can do to improve on that. Played well though.
I'll be honest and put my hands up and say, i didn't want him to come, although i also said he would have my full support if he did. I thought he did brilliantly today and if that is a sign of things to come, then he will flourish in this team and as you say, he will get goals for sure. That's the first time i've really seen anything of us this season apart from the second half of the Leicester debacle. I just couldn't believe what i was watching mate. We had pace, we had determination, we played as a team and we looked the part. Some of the passing and vision and runs 'off' the ball were fantastic and we could easily have gone in at half time 2 goals up. Kaboul was immense at the back and going forward, O'Shea even complimented him very well and it looks like they could form a very solid partnership. The only thing lacking apart from a goal or two was fitness and i think that was obvious for all to see but the only difference between the two teams today was Mason. MOTM for me and made the difference for them otherwise it would have been a point apiece all day long.
Would have bought him when we made the last offer, even though I thought £14m was steep. Seems to be grafting his way back into favour after giving us the bum's rush so hopefully there'll be goals to come. Crowd over 40k again, despite the start, so all to play for with 33 games and two cups to go.
