I've given you credit. But you're nothing special, nothing at all. You have good players who are getting better, your trajectory is upward. Only City look special so far this term. so your prospects for a good season are gut-churningly good, **** it. You deserved to win, and I've repeatedly said as much. But you played far better at anfield under Moyes and got beat. That's football. You can only beat what's put up in front of you.

You saying they are two of the best would suggest that they are better than everyone else bar maybe 1 or 2.. fact could easily list 7 or 8 better suggests they are no where near the best.

 

Because most others at least make it look realistic, if you're blocked off, you don't fall over forward....

 

Wow. Lost all credibility with that Moyes line. We were a shambles in both games under Moyes. More do at Old Trafford. Today we played as well as any game Moyes United played in (premier league games, that trip to Leverkusen was pretty good).

Nonsense. You had five or six shots on target in that game but didn't score. You had three today but did. Just a lot more efficient and effective today.

You were as good as us in the first half... and we were pants. You had precisely 0 shots, actually think was less than us...
You had the ball, but you passed it around sidewards going no where... we sat back and you were no threat to us whatsoever.

You only started playing well ater you got a goal 2 minutes into the 2nd half... and even then you didn't really threaten from open play... if Gomez doesn't slide in Herrera goes no where and it's probably a corner and it stays 1-0 for the rest of the game...

I'd stop saying it I think the Carling Cup game under Moyes against you we definitely played better than we did today. LVG reckons we played better in the first half than we did in the second. That says it all for me.

Watched the first half thought my 0-0 prediction was coming good and should\ve put some good money on. Glad I didn't ... go to the gym check score on phone and it's 3 ****ing 1. Wish I could say I was surprised.

 

Based on what exactly? All you've done is list the midfielders from the biggest clubs around. I doubt you see much if Martinez for one thing. To claim he's better than a Schweinsteiger, one of the worlds greats is funny. He's more of a DM for one thing and certainly doesn't posses the ability to control a game like Schweinsteiger.

Modric, I will give you. The rest, are debatable, if being kind. If bipeing brutally honest, to suggest they can control a game better than Bastian is hilarious.

Control is the key word here. Not defensive, not playmaking... Control.

 

I reckon any other team from the top half of the table would have got a result at OT today. When we did attack, you wobbled. Hardly the great defence/midfield that you allude to. We were ****e, you should take great joy in that.....to suggest that you were decent (you have decent players) today is stretching it. That said, you can only beat what's in front of you....so well done!

 

Shots on target do not mean you played better. It's like claiming we were very attack minded v Fulham that season due to the 85 crosses.

We weren't great in the first, we seriously lacked a striker however we were creating openings, looking like we actually wanted to play.

Up against the bus of Liverpool it looked poor, but that's always the case in games where one side refuses to play at all. Liverpool came and conceded the game immediately. Once they saw Bastuan was playing, they knew they had no chance of getting the ball so opted to play like a very poor version of Chelsea. No team looks amazing against such anti football and we were no exception.


In the second we blew you away. Even with our usual sow patch after scoring we never once looked under pressure. You had a few good minutes tha fizzled out and then inexperience cost you a penalty. Again we controlled everything. You score a great goal but such was our complete and utter control, we go ahead and score a third.

Were we amazing? No. Were we poor? No. A good, solid performance.

 

Van gaal and many outside England call it efficient. Which is what it was.

Having 30 shots and scoring 3 looks good but for a manager, t shows a very wasteful attack. One which in hide games where you will only ge a few chances, you are less likely to score. LVG sees that in those tight games, we are likely to score our chances.

 

Thats the thing though uir. Other big teams dont seem to have a massive problem against most teams who park the bus and that is van gaals problem. His controlling game of football doesnt lend to breaking teams down like pellegrini or fergie. Team literally know they can just turn up and do a pulis knowing it will be 0-0 until around the 70th minute when van gaal panics and chucks on felleini.

No amount of strikers will help the team when all van gaal is interested in being pep lite

 

Try calling any result in this league. People need to realise it's not as easy as it once was. There's no easy games (except you lot) and literally, any side can beat another.

This isn't the 90s, were United were by far the best side. It's not the 00s where United were by far the best side. All teams have quality and the ability to compete, at least in the short term. We've got 10 points. To us quite a while longer to get to this point last season and we've already faced two of our rivals.

All in all its been a good start. The points are what matter right now but performances have also improved since that opening game v Spurs. These improvements took months last season.
