Think this is a good move ... Gazza is showing improvement, and is only young. As others have said, think a loan move will be good when Frazer gets back to fitness.

ehhh... Gazza seems to have improved some but I'm still not very impressed by him. Still, GK's take time to develop and he is still young. The thing he is lacking most is command of the box and composure and while I think those are maybe the two most important aspects to goal keeping, they are also the elements that take the most time to gain. His reflexes seem alright, and that is what you can't teach.

If Reed/Koeman see something there then I am happy to defer to their judgment.

Saints are giving him the time to achieve his potential, but let's not forget the financial side as well...a new contract means a sell on price if an offer appears that suit us and him. Also must remember that for a team with our perceived status in world football, it is very hard to get good 2nd and 3rd goalkeepers....with our defensive system resulting in few shots on goal, he can do a job for us. Gazza certainly doesn't scare me...and that's something at Saints<laugh>

Don't agree with this. Bart was a good keeper and is a good keeper. He made a howler against Blackpool (in his first competitive game for 2 years), the crowd got nervous and destroyed his confidence and he didn't last much longer than that.

He was faultless when we played them in the cup.

Gazzaniga needs to play some games, especially if the mental side of his game needs to improve. I doubt he'll ever be first choice here but if he wants to be the next Neil Moss then fair enough.

He really isn't that young though. If you go through the other Premier League keepers, by his age most of them were first choice at either a Premier League club or a good team in their home country or Europe.
