Sorry to hear your in France bigal (i friggin hate the French) the least said the better, we were poor. MIdfield non existant, defence, oh dear words cant describe how bad they were, thought they were gonna score every attack!!
Oh and i look forward to the usual slating from Westy, Weighty, Warky and Hoppers!! Saying i only come on here after a defeat, well this time boys you are right, was not gonna come on any more but this debacle really got me wound up!!
Well that wasn't fun to watch. Poor performance overall. Sears and Fraser were both good although I think Freddie is wasted out wide.
I was well thanks Weighty but after this evenings performance...... Its not the result that hurts but the performance!! I take it you are good mate?
Oh and to make matters worse and what tipped me over the top is..... Our current guests in the rental are bloody budgies!! Season ticket, home and away budgies!! Ffs!!!!
Well that's brought us back down to earth after a decent start to the season. I only listened to the first half which didn't seem too bad so not sure what happened after that. Were we just caught out too many times trying to chase the game? Whatever, on to the next.
Well, great to have you back in fine chipper form Spanish! Your rants, I love them if they are merited...this game they surely were! The French? I digress, like BigAl I too am over here and love their way of life. I will take any Town guests at 50% discount...and Budgies with a whopping 100% premium for the bloody clean-up job after!! I said 2 weeks ago we were due for a bollocking, we got one! But am I totally gutted and downcast? Ffs No! The team has been messed about with newbies coming in, 5 big player injuries and, yes, I have no doubt that Bru & Bish will make a difference. Unsettled 1st month, but its only a month. Hope to God Mick does not go back in his shell. 1. Defense needs dramatic overhaul. Tommy, out the door, sorry, loyal servant etc... 2. Parr in from start..RB. Chambo back to comfort zonne centre. 3. Midfield as others say, Bish & Bru back. Skuse? Knudson? ..Gerks...out, dont know why Billy wasnt playing, surely had time to recover from his family upset. Thought he was 1st choice. Recent poor form of team coincided with Gerks between the sticks? Need a strong Club response, as MM can and must instigate. Remember, no 11 same players played together for more than 45 mins! Chin up chaps. Aim still to be in top 6 by Xmas. We will...and I am coming up to Suffolk soon....a thousand reasons to be cbeerful!
Scoggy, France is a lovely country, the people i detest!! As for last nights game, it was deffo coming, our defending has been dire of late. Gerken is just not good enough, Bart is better but still not convinced by him either, think we still need a number 1. Chambers is not a RB, we all know that but to be honest, im not so sure he is good enough anywhere, too slow and poor distribution. Smith is also being played out of position and i think he needs a break, seems yo be suffering from lack of confidence at the moment. Berra is by far our best defender, didnt have a good game last night but put that down to being a tad rusty. Knudsen, i thought he was bloody awful, got done most times by the winger, poor passer and just poor defending all round, obviously not ready for champ yet. The defence looked all over the place last night but it wasnt all down to them, they didnt get much help from the midfield, Skusr and Douglas arr too alike, both slow and sideways/backwards passers of the ball. God we miss Bru/Bish!! The wingers/forwards done ok, just wish MM would play players in their natural positions, Sears is oir biggrst threat up top, so dont play him wide, especially when we have wingers to do that job!! Mick serms to try to accomodate too many and it disrupts the balance of the team!! Well thats my opinion anyway
" Oh and i look forward to the usual slating from Westy, Weighty, Warky and Hoppers!! Saying i only come on here after a defeat " Spanish dear old chum!!!! I don't think anyone especially wants to dish out slatings but lets be clear you haven't commented on any of the wins, when we were top of the league and flying this season. Tonight you've said many a point ( I agree with a lot of them I'll get onto thoughts in a minute first game I went to live ) after saying at the end of last season " I will never be back " - you bleed blue Spanish and you're back. Pleased you are too actually, gotta have you on this forum. I don't think you can say fairer than that? I'm not going to slate you or have a personal attack but that is simply factual! Last night was a massive wake up call. I thought Reading away would be quite a tough game as they've started the season well, good manager, and have just added some quality ( Vydra etc ) so it was never going to be a routine 2-0. Likewise with many was shocked to see Gerken in goal, however what he could have done about 4/5 goals is beyond me. The mix up Skuse should have cleared. Was very much looking forward to seeing Knudsen / Fraser. - Knudsen was bloody hopeless but apparently he's been decent. Lets hope that was his one shocker of the season. I thought Douglas was piss poor too. Think he'll do a job for us but based on that the sooner Bishop/ Bru are back the better. Chambers at RB is wearing bloody thin he doesn't make angles for passes, do the basics...... The amount of s*** Mick got for the likes of Tabb LM / Ando / Skuse / direct play - well at least that wouldn't have happened last night. McGoldrick was different class. He needed runners and wasn't getting them. Had to keep coming deep as the cm " duo " were woeful at best. Fraser also had a decent game, apart from them two ( maybe Sears for effort ) I thought the rest left a lot to be desired. Our tempo was wrong. Very slow. Reading more than happy for us to have the ball and pass it so damn slow so they could organise. Gotta give them quite a bit of credit as well as slating us as thought their gameplan was very intelligent and they are a good improved outfit. Mick has some big decisions to make regarding a trip to unbeaten Leeds Tuesday and we know that won't be an easy game. Gotta sort this defence out only one clean sheet all season and going back to the second half of last we struggled defensively. 10/18 is a good start - much better than last season and I've gotta have every confidence with our much improved squad ( light years ahead of where we were at at this stage last season ) we'll be right up there. COYB.
Completely missed the game last night! Happens only once or twice every few seasons and always when we lose (and this one looks like it was a stinking performance from us) Reading the after match report on the B.B.C, Mick says it was a sobering result and that is surely the understatement of the season Lets get a result on Tuesday night ( a draw would be acceptable) and get our season back on track. COYB
It goes to show that we got lucky with the Brighton result as they could have scored 6 or 7, Gerken is just not good enough at Championship level and the defenders don't seem to have any confidence in him, the defenders themselves are too slow to get in position to stop crosses coming in, the central defenders don't pick up the runner coming into the box and finish up on the wrong side as was illustrated with their headed goal. The Midfield is not competitive and Douglas looks a poor signing which allows attackers the time and space to get at our defence, if youre going to play expansive attacking football you need fast Midfielders and defenders to stop getting hit on the break, we don't have any. Maybe this will change when the injured players return we will see. I don't think theres a lot wrong with the front players although Pitman was disappointing, so its 8 goals conceded in 2 games and if the problems are not fixed we will be looking at the bottom of the table not the top half.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I pretty much agree with most of that Spanish. Firstly, I do think a bit of perspective is needed. Before this game, we did have a good start to the season. While it's all well and good venting steam and criticising the players, and there were very few positives we could take from that performance, it is only one match and the general consensus seems to be that we've improved from last season. I don't think one bad result should distract from the fact that we've generally bought well and we look a far more entertaining outfit this term. I think we all agree that Gerken isn't really cut out for a team with our ambitions. I just hope Bart's personal problems won't affect his performance when he does come back into the side. I think the goalkeeping area was highlighted by a few of us in the summer as needing some fresh blood, but evidently the options were not there and, presumably, there was nobody willing to take Gerken off our hands to free up a squad space. The defence still needs investment, and not just on balance of the last two games. While it can be entertaining watching a side with an abundance of attacking options, it doesn't mean much when the defence is so porous and short of numbers. As I've been ranting all summer, I firmly believe we needed a specialist right back in the last transfer window, and the Brighton and Reading game has really highlighted our lack of strength in that area. Chambers, who does a very limited job in that position anyway, is wasted there particularly with Smith performing so inconsistently in the centre. Knudsen had a poor game, as many have already highlighted, but at least he can argue he's adapting to a new country and a new league. Smith, as a club stalwart and something of a first-team regular, should be much more composed on the ball.
Not read any posts so my views remain as they were. It was embarrassingly bad. Hard to find many positives at all. Our build up play is alright but seems so slow and ponderous at times. Midfield seems non existent and less said about our defending the better. Tactics/strategy seems disjointed. Back four are still playing thump it and see what happens, attack want to play it on the ground. Answers arnt easy but Mick needs to find one quickly. 7 goals conceded in 2 games. I'm not sure we've been that porous since Jewell. It's not acceptable for a team expecting to hunt for promotion.
first off, hats off to reading, they were very very good. But Christ were we been bad defensively, gerken is not a first choice keeper, doesn't command his box at all and you can tell the team hasn't got the confidence in his inconsistancy of coming of the line or not, smith cannot play on the right of berra, and chambo isn't a RB, Personally I would like to see Parr come in at RB and chambo move in the centre on Tuesday. Going forward we aren't that bad, definately better than last year, skuse and Douglas are too alike to play together but needs must at the mo in the centre of midfield due to injuries. My biggest gripe is why play your best striker on the wing, Mick to me let himself down because if he is going to play 4-4-2 he needs to have the balls to tell 2 very good strikers, sorry your on the bench. Anyway, I very much doubt reading will play that well again this season, they were very good and I doubt we will play that bad again. these things happen.
It seems most are in agreement about yesterday, especially about Gerken in goal and Sears playing up front. Freddie has less affect on the game out wide, even though he got his goal from drifting in and following up the play. We had three wingers that traveled with the squad but only one made the bench with Fraser starting. Hopefully we will see changes for the next match.
Bart is IMO the better keeper.............in games this season that Sears started up front he has at times switched with Fraser or AMN to go out wide but with goldy and Pitman you can't really switch it about IMO....
