Martial is very talented no doubt but why spend that much on talent and potential?

The purpose of signing talented youngsters is to avoid inflated fees later down the line when they become more established.

If you're spending £36m on a player, he needs to either be a supreme talent, the best of his generation etc etc or a more established player.

Jordon Ibe and Joe Gomez made encouraging debuts for England U21s as the young Lions beat USA U23s 1-0 at Preston North End’s Deepdale on Thursday night.

Gomez was at right-back on the same flank as his Anfield colleague, Ibe, who was playing on the wing.

Both players featured for an hour in Gareth Southgate’s team, while former Academy star Marc Pelosi was in the USA side.

Ibe had some lively moments in attack while Gomez was cool and composed at the back.

The only goal arrived in the 72nd minute when Manchester United youngster James Wilson fired home.

Divock Origi appeared as an 82nd minute substitute for Belgium as they came from behind to beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1. Simon Mignolet was an unused substitute.

Edin Dzeko had fired Bosnia into the lead, but goals from Marouane Fellaini, Kevin De Bruyne and an Eden Hazard penalty saw the hosts take the points.
Origi almost scored himself from a Hazard assist but Liverpool’s No.27 was denied by a fine stop.

Liverpool youngsters Jordan Williams and Danny Ward remained on the bench as Chris Coleman’s Wales took a giant leap towards qualifying for Euro 2016 after a 1-0 win over Cyprus, thanks to a stunning Gareth Bale header

Never said it wasn't. Should be a nice fee next summer or Real may be happy with their no1 at that point if he does well. Who knows.

You might win the CL and he stays <whistle>

If we win the CL his release clause doubles. If he wins Eurovision it increases 10 fold. Seems to be all the rage these days <laugh>

On a more serious note though, there is a 1 year option to extend at the end of the 4 years...which seems strange thing to add if the plan is to move next year <confused>

  15. Can't believe De Gea is prepared to sign a new deal after the way LVG as treated him recently. Guessing the new deal must include a bumper pay increase.

Of course, De Gea will won't to be playing with the Euros being next summer too.

Apparently he spoke to his Spanish mates (Iniesta and Xavi) and they told him what a great bloke LVG was which influenced his decision <cheers>

700% pay rise will do for a couple more Man Utd appearances. It's a de facto loan from Real Madrid, but that technicality means Falcao's record of worse loan ever is safe.

Any Man Utd fan seriously think it will take more than 30 minutes of playing with Blind and Smalling in front of you before he's dreaming of a move again?

Same pay increase he was offered in May <ok>

What makes you think van Gaal treated him badly? he was asked if his head was right to play and said no. Seems like he was treated with compassion and understanding to me.

  19. Yeah, I'm sure he wanted to be dropped <doh>

You really are slipping. There must be something concrete you can grab onto as bait?
