    KIO’s not606 Match Preview

With the international break now over tomorrow sees Norwich City welcome AFC Bournemouth to Carrow Road in Round 5 of this season’s Premier League campaign. Alex Neil will be looking for a positive response from his Canaries side after their heavy defeat against Southampton last time out, while Eddie Howe’s Cherries who are unbeaten in their last three games will be looking to add to their solitary league win this season. After suffering an unfortunate opening day defeat against Crystal Palace, in a match where they saw a goal from Cameron Jerome controversially disallowed Norwich bounced back in their next match with a well-earned 3-1 victory over Sunderland, to record their first win in nine games the top flight. This was followed up with a hard-fought draw against Stoke City and then that disappointing outing at St Mary’s. The Canaries responded to the defeat on the South Coast by bringing in two loan signings on the final day of the transfer window, Matt Jarvis arriving from West Ham United and Congo international Dieumerci Mbokani joining from Dynamo Kiev.

Bournemouth didn’t enjoy the easiest start to the season and after being narrowly beaten by Aston Villa and Liverpool in their first two games, they finally picked up their first points and goals of the season in a thrilling 4-3 win against West Ham United at Upton Park with one time Canary target Callum Wilson bagging a hat-trick. In their last match Eddie Howe’s side were set for their first home win in the Premier League but a late penalty from Jamie Vardy ensured that Leicester City came away from the game with a share of the spoils, this after Wilson had netted his fourth goal of the campaign for the Cherries.
Bournemouth were also busy on the last day of the transfer window bringing in Glenn Murray from Crystal Palace and securing the services of Tomas Andrade and Joe Bennett on loan. It was also widely reported that they also tried to re-sign Lewis Grabban from Norwich but had several bids rejected by the Canaries.

    Alex Neil

Alex Neil has confirmed Lewis Grabban will not be brought back in from the cold for Norwich City’s Premier League home test against old club Bournemouth on Saturday. “The bottom line is Lewis broke the rules, he was punished and he accepts he has done wrong and paid the consequences.”

New signings Dieurmerci Mbokani and Matt Jarvis are in the squad for the Cherries’ visit. “He (Mbokani) is probably a little bit short in terms of match fitness. He didn’t really feature for Kiev during their pre-season so in terms of starting he would be a little bit short but he is in contention for the squad. He has looked good in training. He is big, strong and offers us something we didn’t already have. I am hoping he will be a useful addition. With Matt, I just think we needed a bit more pace and creativity on the flanks. We have Nathan (Redmond) on one side and Robbie (Brady) can do that as well so we wanted a bit more competition to give us that pace to get us up the pitch and a good outlet. He certainly brings that. Matt will come into contention. He has trained with the squad this week.”

    Cherries boss Eddie Howe

"The break was good because it allowed the injuries to sink in, but now we want to press on and support those players. It's down to us now to move on in a positive way and support those lads until they get back. They've [Norwich] made a decent start [to the season]. It's always tough when you come up to a new league, to know how you're going to update to the challenges that you're faced with. But I think they proved, going to Sunderland and winning, and getting a good draw against Stoke, that they're going to be competitive this year, I've got no doubt about that. They've got a good squad of players and they're very well managed, that's obvious, so we're expecting a tough challenge. The game will be a good marker for us to see how much we have improved over the summer."

Bit disappointed actually Dave, spent all afternoon composing the best thread I've ever done and it wouldn't let me post it. It said it was more than 10,000 characters which is total bollocks, now its been edited it's nowhere near as good. Not the first time it's happened either so I'm pissed off big time Dave, so much so I think I might just call it a day mate and let someone else have a go.

Can you split it across multiple posts? Just set the thread up, make a post to reserve the space, then fill in your content?

@KIO if this is your cut down, budget version take a bow. <applause>

Interesting game this. Hopefully a chance to see Jarvis or Brady pushed forward assuming Olsson's ready and a more balanced attacking option on both sides. Could mean more room for Hoolahoops if defence pulled wider.

Big, big game. Obviously this early in the season we can't talk of must-win matches, but three points and a good performance would be welcome to show that the wheels aren't coming off the wagon. The no-show at Southampton, the Grabban affair, the disappointing transfer window, divided feelings about selling Johnson, divided feelings about keeping Grabban - we really need the win to steady the ship, I feel. COYY!

Couldn't have put it any better. AN's first big tests methinks and they came in threes.

    A little pre-match entertainment <ok>
The fifth (5th) and final goal is a bit of a ripper - keeper never moved :)

Excellent work KIO, you really have set a very high bar. I didn't realise our poor our recent record against Bournemouth was at home. Really could do with winning this one.

In the Press Conference, AN suggested that there was a worry that Olsson had too much game time too quickly. Fear of a hamstring pull perhaps?

Great lineup and a tasty bench! Theres some real variety there.

Another cracking thread KIO. I really like the lineup graphic - how do you do that? Although Matty Jarvis looks like a First World War pendant photo

Hooper can't even make the bench. I think he might be off on loan, though I'd rather he didn't.
