Either way Haas will have a massive advantage over other newbie teams etc. Its almost like having a customer car if what has been reported is true.
They do have a massive advantage but rules are rules. If it's within the rules then they are OK. All teams in F1 push the rules as much as possible so HASS are in good company.
Yeah I don't see anything wrong with what Haas are doing. It makes perfect sense to buy as many parts of the shelf for their first season. As long as their aim is to eventually wean themselves off Ferrari parts and build their own machine from the ground up I see no problem with it.
I think it's the smart thing to do, it's hardly like HRT, Virgin/ Marussia, Lotus/Cater-ham have been a success.
I think that's the argument that Haas made. Doing the same thing over and over again is pointless. Perhaps it hasn't been an issue before because nobody has thought of it, obvious as it seems now.
Oh goody.... Andrew Benson @andrewbensonf1 8m8 minutes ago Lotus announce @Pastormaldo will stay in 2016. Team will almost certainly be Renault by then
He almost seems to arrogant to realise he needs to change and keep aware of other cars round him. Unfortunately he will hurt someone before the FIA do anything. The problem is money, and he is a good source.
There is no doubt he has the ability but as you say it's more his attitude that is a concern. I've seen this in lower formulas where you have drivers with big sponsorship who don't care about damage And how they effect others careers!
I used to say this about Hamilton when he first joined F1 and would launch his car at others and expect them to get out of the way (pretty similar to Perez). Not that he had a big budget but he'd always been with the richer teams, if a driver's been with the backmarker teams and had to carry any damage they caused until the end of the season because their team couldn't afford replacement parts they're a lot more cautious in wheel to wheel races. Andrew Benson @andrewbensonf1 8m8 minutes ago Lotus announce @Pastormaldo will stay in 2016. Team will almost certainly be Renault by then Surely these two sentences don't really tally up? Maldonado staying would suggest to me the team is still likely to be cash-strapped Lotus in 2016.
I am wondering if they have signed him/taken the option as his sponsors will give them lots of cash now, (they normally pay in August for the next year) which I think is part of the reason Lotus are short of cash now. But also they have a Merc engine deal for 2016 and can still use PDVSA and their fuel and lubricants. I don't think Renault would use PDVSA as they normally use Total. I would not be at all surprised if Lotus is run as Lotus for 2016 and there are no Renault engines in F1 for 2016. Then Renault spend a year developing their Power Unit without any token limits as they would not be an engine supplier. I am betting the FIA have not written the 'engine supplier' rules very well or Renault know there is a loop hole allowing them to not be an engine supplier for 12 months and come back with a 'new' engine without the tokens restrictions hampering development. They then come back in 2017 re-branding Lotus as Renault with new Power Unit that has been created from everything they have learned.
Button might announce the end of his carear in Japan. Sad times if true but if Mclaren need extra cash and the rumours of Jenson in Le Mans, it looks ever so likely http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/mo...Jenson-Button-poised-to-quit-Formula-One.html
I don't think he's being pushed out. I think he's simply lost faith in any immediate improvement from McLaren. What a shame to see his career end on such a low. His talent deserved better cars than he got, but I'll always treasure the 09-12 period and i suppose the vast majority never get that chance. At least once he's gone though i can drop any pretence of supporting McLaren and start openly hating them.
Jenson to me has had the look of someone in control of his own destiny the last few weeks. One lap pace he has never been the quickest but he really was a true to the flag racer who won some brilliant races. I hope he has one more season and that Honda produce a stellar engine in the off season but we all know that is quite a big step, so if he walks away on his terms I would understand that. He deserved a couple more seasons in a very strong car having been brave enough to go and race alongside Lewis at McLaren and latterly Fernando. I think whatever his decision he walks away as one of the sports most respected drivers. Never a number one driver and won fair and square when he did win. I think he's just an absolute class act and F1 is poorer without the likes of him when you have pay taxi drivers sucking the life from the sport. If there's one guy who Honda owe a bloody good machine to, it's him. Ironically of course I think they will go on to be world champs when he does leave. But he will have a greater angle on the time that might take.
