Reports that Woody has joined the contract negotiations. There are now only two possible outcomes. 1. DDG doesn't sign a contract 2. He signs a contract worth more per week than he and his agent had hoped for
It is United's and Moyes's misfortune that Gill is no longer around. I suppose we ought to be grateful that Woody is learning albeit from a steep curve. If United pays a premium of only 20%, it is a massive result. Agents run rings round the poor man.
De Gea signs new deal Manchester United have announced that goalkeeper David de Gea has signed a new four-year contract. says SSN http://www.skysports.com/
DDG - "I am delighted to be starting this new chapter in my United career. I have always enjoyed playing with these great players in front of our fantastic fans. Manchester United is a special club and Old Trafford is an ideal place for me to continue to develop my career. I’m looking forward to putting a difficult summer behind me and concentrating on working hard to improve and help my teammates to be successful.”
Major credit to LVG and Woodward on this. It has become cool in the media to constantly slate those two. Everyone has an opinion on them. But only United can rebuff Real's B---S and STILL get the player to sign a new contract. This is glass all over Real's face and I am enjoying this more than a league game win.
I think the fact De Gea and more importantly his agent blamed Real Madrid for the collapse of his move proves it was Madrid at fault and not us. Jorge Mendes will know more than most what actually went on behind closed doors at both clubs on deadline day. It has all worked out well in the end for us, and Madrid are left with egg on there faces, they tried to be clever to get him cheap and it's completely backfired on them. Not only will they have to pay a fortune for De Gea if they want him now, they also have a very unhappy goalkeeper on there hands in Navas, who knows he isn't wanted by them. De Gea clearly feels let down by Madrid, which has drove him back into our arms. It's great to get one over on them
I still think it might all be part of a deal. Higher wages for DDG for one more season and a guaranteed transfer fee for United next summer. This should have been done last summer... As it turns out we got lucky as we get to keep him for one more season.
Even if he goes next summer, it is a massive win for United. We'll get a proven GK for this season and we get a fee too to get another World class one to replace him. I never could have imagined such a good outcome to the whole saga. LVG must take some credit for that. And Real for being the ****s they are.
It has become cool in the media to constantly slate United. Most of the press have been focussed on United and most of it is negative. The likes of woodward won't necessarily mind that as it keeps the club profile high.
I think this has fallen United's way more by luck than judgement. Real ****ed up the deal, either accidentally or deliberately. If the former than they're incompetent fools, if the latter then they're arrogant fools as they must have thought they could get him for free next summer. Anyway, we win.
