Only for the people on the wrong end of a scud Putin was right though to veto the coalition going into Syria to remove Bashar Al Assad, look what happened when they removed Saddam Hussein and Gadaffi. The problem he has with the coalition occupying countries is the exploitation of their commodities, he doesn't want the west becoming more powerful, gaining an unfair advantage (an even bigger advantage if you like). I think he'd back a mass exercise into the middle east to target specific terrorist cells, it's probably a 30 year operation at least, not some 5 year half-job like they tried doing in Iraq.
