There are other figures that will tell you that the world has never been so safe. That less people are dying from violent acts than ever before. You talk about 12,000 ISIS fighters. There are what.. Just under 2 billion Muslims on that planet? Most of them don't give a **** about you. Just because a tiny minority of Muslims are grabbing the headlines now, do you seriously believe someone's going to wake you up tomorrow morning and march you to the local mosque to pray? Putin's building up forces in Syria? Good! Maybe we'll end up with a winner over there. Then we can deal with him alone. The yanks have ****ed it up. Let the Russians have a go. Putin's stirring it up in the Ukraine. Why the **** wouldn't he? The Russians have been invaded from Europe for hundreds of years. From Napoleon to Hitler, the Russians have lost millions dead because of us peaceful Europeans. The wall came down and the USSR collapsed. What did the West do? March up to their ****ing borders by inviting all the Eastern European States to join NATO. No wonder they're scared ****less about us! Anyway, rant over. Sorry mate.
You ok mate? I don't think that bloke mentioned Muslims at all. It came across to me that he is worried in general about the fighting and bad feeling going on in the world.
Not quite accurate, most of the eastern Euro countries wanted into the EU and NATO, Putin is a throw back to the cold war and took back what Krushev gave back to Ukraines and Crrimeans for what the Russians did in their regions in Soviet times.
I'm fine mate. He mentioned IS fighters but yeh, I get that he's worried about world stuff in general. The thing is, everyone gets caught up in the daily news headlines. Good news doesn't sell. It's just the dark, dramatic news that's gets to the front page. Don't quote me (somebody on here will pick me up on this stat), but 99.9999% of the world is just getting on in life and doesn't give a **** what's happening in Syria, or Lebanon, or Ukraine. Or wherever. Having a bad couple of weeks mate, nothing like in comparison with many good folk on here. Just a bit testy at the minute. Having just said that, Joe hasnt been on here in a while. I hope he's doing okay.
Of course they did mate. We were 20, 30 years ahead of them. Why wouldn't they want to join us? It didn't mean we had to say yes straightaway. Surely some of our leaders with some sense of history could have realised that the worst thing we could have done would be to immediately extend NATO borders right up to the Russian border! How ****ing shortsighted was that? Couldn't someone have recognised that the last thing to do would be to rub Russian noses in the dirt and allow them the dignity to rebuild the Russian state and maybe, over time, invite them to join NATO as well. But no, we had to prove our superiority over their failed state. We did that with the Germans at Versailles and Hitler came back and bit us in the ass. Now Putins doing the same! Who'd have guessed?
Rant accepted, but........ There are figures and there is reality, there is mayhem going on in every corner of our tiny little planet and it is getting worse as the population explodes. The environment, the sea and every country in the world is becoming a polluted mess and will get worse as time goes on. There are many more wars to come. I cannot understand how (supposedly) 12000 ISIS can run amok in the Middle East and, without air power, hold so much territory.........., it does not make any sense. They have helped all but destroy Syria, which is why possibly millions more people will head our way. They are also in Libya and are making a good fist of destroying the economies of all the North African States; unchecked, I think they could do exactly the same here, so yes I am concerned. Putin....ummm? A man who could have united East and west, it was all going so well, but a gangster is a gangster and he and his henchmen continue to break down trust and he resorts to flying bombers along our coast,; childish and which eventually will end badly. The Russians lost millions partly because of Russians (Stalin!!!!) Countrymen of ours saved millions of Russians with their sacrifice on the arctic convoys and our pilots fought on Russian soil to help them defeat the Natzis! We are a nation of people, in the main, that care. Just look at the money that has been raised for any number of disasters and I am sure we will try to continue to do so. I am though, when you start to hear of countries closing their borders as Denmark has, very very concerned for the future. My rant over, sorry mate
Not what I wanted to post. Wonder what state Russia would be now if the changes outlined by Ghorbachove to the UN had not been undermined by the hawks and leading to his demise. Appoint a hard man with Stalinist value and they are happy being on the outside.
Spoke to V-Joe today on the phone. He is doing fine, just got his own issues (hospital related, nothing too onerous) that he wants to get through before he comes back on. He sends his love to you though (soft ****e )
WW3 has to be only a matter of time now, the biggest nations on earth are all taking in arab refugees, fleeing the crisis in the Middle East. USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, well the EU, probably Canada... all committing to taking in refugees, well it's unsustainable to think we can re-house the entire middle east within these nations. ISIS/Al Nusra/Jaysh Al-Islam/Hamas/Hezbollah... will they all just down weapons and start making daisy chains if their countries start emptying? Will they ****, they'll march into other territories, change their targets. The west, China, Japan, Australia, African nations and Russia need to join forces, the lot of them, across the entire middle east, with Israel's help, half-hearted measures will not cut the mustard.
