Baby and bathwater come to mind. Philosophically you can argue against a monarchy, but I can't think of anyway of selecting a head of state that isn't devisive. Electing the government is fraught enough...certainly wouldn't want to elect a head of state. I would struggle to think of anyone I would elect....though Alan Titchmarsh would have a chance of getting elected. Or David Beckham perhaps.
A bit too keen to make do. In the 21st century these outdated forms of rule have no place in equality.
Here I am in Le pays de grenouilles with WiFi for the night, and I say the nicest man in England, Michael Palin, should be declared president of the UK, to be succeeded by Jenson Button after a 10 year term.
What about Edward The Black Prince? This class of people get worked up if their offspring marry the wrong sort of Anglo-Saxon (which is ironic with a name like Ceawlin) let alone a Nigerian. As for princes dating "black women" ....that's their choice not ours. Mind you, I've watched TV and everyone is in a mixed-race relationship aren't they...at least in the adverts.
Just watched a tremendous documentary about Bletchley Park and the rise of Intelligence, on BBC2 on the iPlayer. It covers information only recently de-classified, due to Edward Snowden's whistle blowing: Bletchley Park: Code-breaking's Forgotten Genius [<- click the link]
Please explain. I provide evidence that you don't need a monarch to be an effective tourist destination to which you have no answer but a rude response. What evidence do you have that the Queen benefits Britain as a tourist destination when hard data shows that the main reason people visit Britain is to visit friends and family.
She only became head of state because of the devious and underhand tactics of her ancestors. The establishment is as determined to hang onto power as any grubby politician.
...there must be a lot of people that live at the end of the Pall Mall, because every time I've seen it, there's been shed loads of people trying to see their Aunty or Uncle through the gates
My eldest brother went on a Bletchley Park tour about 3-4 years ago, and I mentioned the name Gordon Welchman to him [the subject of this documentary] and he said his name was not mentioned once. It was all Turing. From what I understand now, Turing invented the modern computer. Welchman invented the Cloud.
https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/secret-agent-post-transfer-window-211146382.html Interesting little article written from the view of an agent. Most interesting was the suggestion of a manager on the take at a (unspecified) major EPL club.
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...antic-Super-Cup-trophy-winners-Premier-League Proposal for MLS to take on EPL title winners and FA Cup winners in a regular summer tournament....as opposed to random visits from EPL clubs as at present. May not concern us, but I'm not sure about the value of these money-spinning flashy tours compared to a proper structured pre-season that we do at present. However, there was some earlier talk of us going to America to increase our profile, but nothing came of it, so it may feature in the club's long term plans.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...end_to_star_in_major_television_show/?ref=rss Appeared in Echo yesterday, but no one seems to have mentioned it. Matty to appear in ITV show where he will be pitted against other sports stars including James Cracknell and Liz McColgan. Hope you've improved your fitness, Matt.
The single most visited location in Britain is The Tower of London. Perhaps they are all hoping to see her there.
https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/to...bayor-without-club-and-country-134703052.html Wonder if Adebayor was the player mentioned by this agent as a player where ego exceeded reality.
