Had a odd situation a few weeks ago, I took my family to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we drove up and parked on the peripheral of Edinburgh as it's cheaper to park on a side street -paid £7 at parking meter as it actually covered me time-wise to the to the following morning.
When I got back to the car in the evening around 9pm - I found I'd been issued a penalty ticket earlier in the day by the parking warden - they'd put the 'paper penalty charge' on my window screen and it actually placed and covered the area were I displayed my clearly visible and valid parking permit
- needless to say was pissed off!
The parking penalty - stated I didn't display a parking permit
- I got home emailed the the Edinburgh Council with a photocopy of my parking permit and photo of the permit inside my window screen - I got a rather cryptic reply today saying after their 'investigation' the penalty ticket was issued in error and was in fact 'spoiled' by the warden- it wasn't spoiled or had anything written on the penalty charge to say issued in error or whatsoever - so my thoughts are if the warden actually realised their error- so why the **** would they still leave the penalty charge - do parking wardens get a commission for every ticket issued?
Has anyone else had this happen or anything similar?
The whole scenario stinks in my view - and makes you wonder if it's now common practice to raise revenue (at £60.00 per fine issued) to charge unsuspecting and gullible motorist who will swallow the fine and pay up!
