If that is the case, why are they traveling though Turkey, Bulgaria, Sebia, Hungary, and then Austria to get to Germany - are those 5 countries not able to offer refuge?

So you are saying there is no persecution? - not sure what your point is regarding whether the EU as whole should do something about their plight?

My point is, you state they are refugees and not economic migrants - yet they are traveling through 5 counties and not seeking refuge in any of them - they are heading straight to Germany where the economy is better <ok>

No - I am British - If my nation was under threat from tyranny I would unite with my fellow countrymen like my grandfather did during WW2 and his father in WW1.
I would not flee to another continent leaving my wife and kids behind at refugee camps - especially when some of my countrymen are staying behind to fight for their country. If my grandad and his brothers were on a ship bound for Normandy and they saw another ship full of Englishmen fleeing to Holland, they would have shot them for desertion and rightly so!!

But TC some of these people are so desperate they pay money to get on boats that are obviously death traps.

As with everything there will be people just out for what they can get, but the majority are just ordinary people.

There is no magic bullet that will solve this crisis - from IS to the dictatorships in places like Saudi Arabia to Western Governments and politicians having policies that only suit their own interests.

It's a massive problem and doing nothing is not an option. We have to help these people in the short-term and ultimately sort out what's causing their displacement in Syria - i.e. IS and Assad

You mention the 2nd World War - we did what was right then

We did do what was right and as a result Christians ,Hindus ,Buddhists ,Jews ,& Sikhs all live together in peace & have respected the democratic values ...But Islam doesn't. When they are minorities ,they want a secular country ..But when they become the majority they want Islamic nation. Islam should be labelled as a hate group for it's open hatred of Jews, homosexuals, the disabled and women. The Koran should be banned like Hitlers Mein kampf, as it IS worse: more intolerant, more dangerous, more hateful.

When context and the unreliability of the source are considered, it is just desperate people desperate for a solution for their horrendous problems. I still doubt the images and the mugs who get scared by them.

And for the Isis if they wanted to get to the UK, they would send people by plane or car and boat. They wouldn't be sending them off on dangerous migrant boats and hit hiking in the back of lorries

It does help when you speak the language and abide by the customs of the country you are working in.

What success do you think this lot will achieve?

Of course us Brits always respect and agknowledge culture when abroad <laugh>

The refugees are humans deprived of basic human needs when they arrive. Like all desperate people they will take the measures required to get the basics that they are deprived of. Why should people be deprived of human rights because they are a certain religion/race?

20,000 coming here over the next 5 years is 20,000 too many

Root out the Jihadists here and imprison them for life on dry bread and rainwater, seize their assets and deport their (extended) families to Syria.

    Jobs a good un

I agree, 20000 is the wrong number
It should be much more than that til every refugee has the chance to build a future in a stable country from USA to Spain, from Australia to Canada

They can go to whatever mug country takes them with my blessing as long as it's not here.

If you're that worried about it why don't you go and live in Syria and help them cross into other countries.

Don't come crying on here if you or your family/friends are ever attacked or worse by these people or their like.
