I can't really argue the ins and outs of what the best approach is because I have no suggestions on workable solutions. In times of crisis fast action is what's called for so thinking time is reduced. I'd like it to be a warm welcome, food, clothing and safe temporary accommodation while solutions are worked on. That's the very least we should do for fellow humans in trouble.

There are no contingency plans in this country in case of emergency situations like the current situation with refugees but considering the government employ strategists and analysts you'd have thought their studies to what's been happening in North Africa and the Middle East would have given them a clue as to the fleeing of people from ISIS and the war zone in Syria.

They're not fleeing here though. We're not letting them in and we're an island nation so the nearest they'll get is Calais

The only refugees we'll be taking are from the border camps, and they'll be of our choosing no doubt.

I know that, but those that fled the warzone and ISIS and are currently in temporary camps are the people Im talking about, whoever and however many of them that are "chosen" to be allowed safe sanctuary in the UK will need housing, feeding, clothing, possibly medical attention and their children will be in need of education while their here.
Just read that Cameron has again mentioned taking military action although he never said if or when, but its leading that way sadly.

4,000 a year over 5 years, or 1.5% of the immigrants that will land here in the same timeframe.

It's an insignificant number that doesn't warrant a detailed action plan mate.

As for military action, they've got to cut the head off the serpent. IS are out of control and Nato have got to start clearing up the ****ty mess that they created by destabilising the entire region in the first place.

    Go 'Murica...

It's a large scale ' if you need any help, you know where I am' situation where you hope your help is never called on and if it is you're like ''oh, heck, I know I said it but I didn't expect you to take it seriously'. We can't even cope with floods when they are occurring in the same places time after time like Cornwall - it's the bury your head in the sand strategy the government seem to do so well.

His rhetoric wasn't aimed at ISIS though it was aimed at Assad.

It was aimed at both of them.

"Assad has to go, Isil has to go and some of that will require not just spending money, not just aid, not just diplomacy, but it will on occasion require hard military force."

This is why I don't believe that encouraging more to make the journey is the right thing to do. Germany is fuelling the problem in my opinion due to their need for more migrant workers to fuel their economy. We on the other hand are not requiring a large quantity of unskilled workers meaning that any aspirations that these people have in this country will be largely unfulfilled.

Quotas are not a solution I would like to see us volunteering for as disaffected people whose aspirations are unfulfilled could become a huge problem for us over the long term.

Russian involvement really complicates things as far as Assad is concerned. I can't see any solution working with him continuing as leader, but the Russians want to maintain influence in the region which means that this situation is going to go on for some considerable time.

Im taking old coats, warm clothes, sleeping bag and an oldtemt down to a local pub later which are going to refugees in Calais

Quick question, why are there suddenly loads all seem to come at once? Is it becausethe fighting in their countries has got worse?

Keep your gear for a better cause mate. They're not refugees they're economic migrants. They don't need any encouragement at all to think that there's a warm welcome waiting for them if they can get to Calais. The vast majority are single men ffs.

The additional route through Libya has certainly increased numbers.

Kent's Chief Constable reckoned that 900 a month were still getting through which really should be clamped down. Personally I think that feeding and clothing them encourages more to come.
