To follow up on the VG scheme - the club are now promoting the fact if you sign up you can get Palace tickets. Some people within that club are utter ******. Few degree's off of blackmail that is, and an obvious finger up to those who decided enough was enough with VG due to the club cashing in when a decent offer comes in.
They should have a loyalty points scheme, call it "Charlton Athletic Miles." You get 1 point for the each mile of distance an away stadium is to The Valley. So for instance, if you get a ticket to Brentford, you'd get 18 miles/points, whereas if you do Middlesbrough you'd get 255 miles/points. When it comes to games, then you can then redeem your "miles/points" for priority tickets, the club will determine what that level should be. Then you're points balance is returned to 0, and is only valid to yourself (and not to anyone else), to ensure that it's kept fair to all. You can choose to not redeem them and carry them over from season to season, (if you collect for 10 years and find ourselves in the Premier League you can cash them in all at that season for ManU, Chelsea, etc). Entirely up to you how you use them. All away tickets should be able to purchased online, and you put in your points card, and those of friends, to validate if you are eligible for priority or pre-sale. And then vola, no-one can complain that it's an unfair system. And no-one will be on hold for 56 minutes only to be told that the call cannot be completed!
Good of you to work in a plug for VOLA. They do not get the attention they deserve: http://www.volaband.com/ I suppose Makienok drew your attention to them?
Paul Hart returns to Leeds. A year later than anticipated - but tells you something when he wants to work for Cellino, but not RD
Congratulations to JBG and Iceland. They need a home win against Kazakhstan to ensure reaching the Euro finals. Not in itself an especially commendable feat, considering that two-fifths of the starters will reach the finals, but Iceland only has a total population of about 300,000, about the same as the Borough of Greenwich and Woolwich. Moreover, all their players are native-born Icelanders. They do not scour the world bribing players to change their nationality or qualify through their grandparents as do so many other countries.
Yes, I love Iceland, although I only had one holiday there. An impressive fact is that McDonald's opened up an outlet there, but had to close it down because the Icelanders wouldn't eat their product. Congrats also to Wales and Northern Ireland who are almost there. After a dismal performance last night it looks as though Scotland will be the only home nation not to make it.
I think you are confusing it with the UK chain store, AllHell. I imagine fresh fruit and veg must be limited in Iceland, but meat and fish products should be top quality. Iceland consistently comes near the top of world surveys of friendly and helpful people. With only 300,000 of them they are probably glad to see a new face occasionally. They are also by a country mile the world's most literate nation. Iceland has more writers, more books published and more books read, per head, than anywhere else in the world. 10% of the population will publish a book in their lifetime. (I imagine "book" is interpreted generously to include pamphlets, etc, but still an astonishing statistic). Let's all move to Iceland! Charlton could win the League every year there, qualify for the Champions League, and serve rollmop herrings at halftime.
Any thoughts on JJ? Hard to gauge due to the opposition, but thought he did well on a poor pitch. Keen to see him against some established international players.
Definitely seemed comfortable, and think his combative style would help the national team. Gerrard always seemed to hold off on that front when playing for England. The critics seem to have been impressed.
Yes and I've never really seen Wilshere be 'combative' for England so Shelvey can create himself a niche if he stays in form.
What Euros match are you lot watching? I'm watching Northern Ireland vs. Hungary. A win will see them qualify. Great to see them in the Euros for their first Championship final. The fans too are phenomenal.
Scotland of corse!! Regret not doing them in a double chance bet, but have been able to enjoy it more.
Just seen the score in that match. Scotland unlucky against Germany or they just lucky to get them two goals?
