Kempton Snr had one of the first tv sets on North Hull, and your right, half the street used to come around and watch.
Aye on that score then. Black and white TV's. Couldnt believe it when we got a colour tv. The old man ringing up the rest of the family to tell em all. Rented from Prossers on Newland Ave. On that also first brand new tv i bought, Mitsubishi Black Diamond, late 80's, the bloke came round and tuned it in for you!!!
Footballers in short shorts Flair players with their shirt untucked Hard men with their socks rolled down
He had a big cape over him when he drove it and used it to store it round the back of his house. I used to wonder how disabled he was if he could lug that thing round. There was another bloke had a similar, but more lightweight version. Neither of them would let us have a go, miserable sods.
Tins of pilchards/sardines with a key to open the lid. Cutting your finger on the razor sharp lid. The little metal bit to hook the key onto to get it started breaking making you throw said tin of unopened pilchards/sardines at the wall. Pilchards/sardines on toast. Toast toppers.
jesus Christ on a skateboard, toast toppers. I used to love em. I bet they'd taste terrible now. Findus crispy pancakes, i liked the cheese or the curry ones.
I've just bought some sideboards for our sitting room...now I don't know if I'm old fashioned or fashionably retro ?!
