I would rather it start in March and finish in November myself.

Just another Red Flag or race abandonment waiting to happen.

I guess they've moved Malaysia so it isn't during rainy season any more. Finishing that late is ridiculous though. They should just scrap Abu Dhabi and Baku.

Jenson sounding less than enthusiastic about another season with McLaren.

Think he's going to walk away and who could really blame him.

Either that or he will want a longer contract to benefit all the work he will put in.

This race was a kind of swansong, fighting the unfightable duels with much faster cars.

    It's getting more real.

Red Bull won't use Renault engines in Formula 1 in 2016

The Red Bull Formula 1 team will not run Renault engines next season, AUTOSPORT understands.

Red Bull and Renault's relationship has become fractious during the last two seasons following a string of reliability and performance problems.

Red Bull has a contract with Renault that runs until the end of 2016, but AUTOSPORT sources are adamant the relationship will not continue next year.

It is understood Red Bull has issued a document requesting a termination of the partnership that will be accepted by Renault.

This comes after Daniel Ricciardo and Daniil Kvyat took their seventh engines of the season for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix, resulting in big grid penalties.

It also leaves Red Bull with Mercedes and Ferrari as the only realistic options for power next season.

Renault's future in Formula 1 has been the subject of speculation this season.

It is understood that it has ruled out being an engine supplier to customer teams next year, which has implications for its second outfit Toro Rosso.

That leaves Renault with two options: buy Lotus, where a deal is poised to be agreed, or leave F1 altogether, which a source suggests remains a possibility.

Now is it me, or is that nuts?

That sounds like an impatient team and owner who are sacrificing the long term benefit of a works team status to be supplied sub standard engines by their very rivals.

Unless of course they go with Audi or someone else new.

Is Red Bull Honda an option? Now before you laugh (maybe its too late!), would a dual-works team be the best solution for all 3 parties? Honda need more track time and data, McLaren desperately need them to get it to improve the performance, and Red Bull want to take a gamble on another supplier being able to out-perform Renault. Clearly there would be a reluctance to give any power away on McLarens part and it could be a very difficult negotiation, but with Newey on the back burner could McLaren take the risk and back themselves to build the better car?

    EDIT: http://www.motogp.com/en/news/2014/...ion-increase-partnership-with-red-bull/164712

Just wanted to highlight the link between the two companies on a MotoGP level.

I get your point, EMSC. I don't quite think it's his swansong but his valiant attempt to be a David amongst Goliaths was admirable.

Bernie and the FIA must be getting a bit worried. If Renault don't buy Lotus and pull out as engine supplier that only really leaves Merc and Ferrari as engine suppliers. I excluded Honda as they are currently so bad no team in their right mind would choose a Honda Power Unit. Currently the rules are that an engine manufacturer can only supply 4 teams. So if we loose Lotus and gain Hass that still gives 10 teams so an extra team will have to have a Honda engine unless an alternative engine supplier comes in or the FIA relax the 4 team engine supplier rule.

Good point , But I get the feeling he has had enough . Doubt he will ever win in F1 again , or even be competitive , not his fault !

I think he will go have fun in the endurance series with Webber etc .

Hopefully Ferrari can pick up the pieces of SRT, they are an impressive little unit and would be another good hope for talented youngsters for Ferrari to pouch in future. If Mercedes can pick up Manor then that would be another good home for youngsters. We could have a grid dangerously close to letting in those with talent rather than those with money!
