What was that little shop called near Carmichaels that sold blue hair dye and punk clothes?

I did wonder whether I might be suffering from Caramac-blindness. I'm getting my eyes tested next week - I'll ask them about it.

I wish I still had some of the stuff I bought from there, and from Transvaal on Spring Bank

Can't be bothered to read all the way back

Have we covered the sad demise of finding porn mags (or even just separate pages from porn mags) in hedges yet?

Did you read through eleven pages to make this stellar contribution? As an expat, I find anything that reminds me of my youth in Hull or anything about Hull in general, of interest. Consequently, I appreciate so many of OLM's contributions.

    Also missed are:

Trolley buses - I think I used to take #69 from town to Saner Lane (I know it's really street but nobody called it that). #69 perhaps it conditioned me.
Kardomah Cafe, I can still smell it.
The ferries, Tattershal Castle, Lincoln Castle and Whinfield or was it Wingfield Castle?
    Joe Lyons Cornerhouse restaurants
    Golden Egg restaurants
    Wimpy Bars
    Watneys (pissy) Red Barrell
Rowing and motor boats in the parks. "Come in number fourteen, your time's up."
    Butlins Holiday Camps
Standing on the footbridge over the railway line at Anlaby Road (Rerd) and Boulevard to be enveloped in smoke from a passing steam train.
Painted designs on slate roofs to attract homing pigeons
Court reports in The Fail about villains, mostly from Kingsbench Street and battles at the Chomley Club

I could go on but I'm turning into a boring old fart.

Bobby, surely you must have something worthwhile to conribute?

    1) I remember it as Teledisc ? Used to tap the old phone to get through for nowt. The first song I remember was Cathy's Clown by t'Everleys. Phone box opposite Darley's at the Hessle "Recker".
    2) Tuppence a pint cheaper than Hull Brewery bitter - either in " The Granby" in Hessle Square or in "Top House", aka "The George" in Prestongate. 8 pence a pint. Luvely.

First shag at Butlins, Skegness - thanks for reminding me. Sand everywhere. Worked in the kitchens. The big vats that were polluted with unmentionable bodily fluids by the staff was amazing !!!

I used to meet with my friends at the Kardomah on Whitefriargate for lunch just about every day in the early 60s when I worked at Reckitts TC. Did you know any of Dudley Moore, the Sangwins, John Good, the Mays? In those days you could park on the street...I had a British Racing Green Jensen Interceptor which was quite rare at the time...got a few interesting notes left under my windshield wipers!! :emoticon-0102-bigsm
