Can remember watching him on soccer am saying how much he loved the Swans and the fans. also asking if anyone knows the real reason he left the Swans
Would have to ask Martinez that question, but I remember at the time being gutted 15 goals in under 30 games and a hatrick on his first game
I've seen Knight moan a few times on twitter about leaving the Swans. Someone asked him why he did and his reply was basically "You'll have to ask King Kenny that question." Leon Knight had an abundance of potential and could have been something special but ruined it because he's an idiot really. I don't know him personally but there's been enugh time for him to settle down and sort himself out and being with Swansea was probably his best shot at it. I once saw him on Twitter slagging of an old teacher, so i made a sarcastic comment saying something like "You're such a good role model for young people" to whic he replied "role models are a waste of time". Heard enough from the clown.
I've got to defend him a bit - and over the years nobody has vilified him more than me. I've had a brief chat over Twitter and the like with him and to be fair there are three important things. 1) He still loves the club and fans here. 2) He knows that he's been immature in the past and has paid the price for it. 3) He has never hidden from his troubles, always faced things and admitted his problems. I truly wish him all the best for the future, but am still disappointed in how his career with us ended. He was our top scorer but Kenny Jackett (who I agree with) made the decision that on field skill does not make up for off field problems. Knight has stated many times he cannot sleep until he is physically worn out - leading him to go out drinking and break curfews. I think that's what Jackett hinted at when he mentioned the problems, and also that Leon has always been a little confrontational at times. Those clashes led to Leon being released, but before that (and since) he's always been good for the club and to our fans.
