Lowe and other Mercedes engineers just left the stewards. Some say they don't look happy.

Have I just wanted a race for literally no reason :(

They can appeal any penalty. It doesn't mean they'll win the appeal though.

I think they need to DQ them simply because if they don't every other team will take the piss with the rules then come back to this race as an excuse.

Completely, they should have sorted this sooner. Should be a slam dunk DSQ. Now there's no force majeur regulation they can't blame it on a faulty valve or whatever.

You have to laugh in these situations.

A separate point, if Hamilton gets DSQ on safety reasons then the FIA knowingly let Hamilton and Rosberg race with unsafe cars. Have they snookered themselves?

    http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/pirelli-warns-teams-not-to-flout-tyre-pressure-rules

There is clearly a suspicion that teams have found ways to meet the legal requirement as the car leaves the pits, but then run on track with slightly lower and thus more favourable pressures, which in turn aid car performance.

One way to promote a pressure drop on track is to have very high blanket temperatures, and Pirelli has underlined that the temperature numbers are being watched: "I also remind you to respect the maximum temperature for blankets as we will ask FIA to random check the values."

Sounds like they've been doing it all season.

    From Autosport:

    "
Mercedes technical chief Paddy Lowe said the team was confused by the summons.

"We don't understand it to be honest," he told Sky Sports.

"We've been summoned to the stewards, so we'll go there and explain it.

"All I know is we set our pressures fully supervised by the Pirelli engineer.

"He was perfectly happy with them as they were set.""

I can possibly understand them letting Hamilton race as 0.3 is not much and can be argued at the end of the race but 1.1 on Rosbergs is WAY under, his car should have been pulled at the start if that's the case but as you say they let him race a "dangerous" car.

FIA will have to disqualify themselves.

Makes so much sense why Toto was busting his balls to get Lewis to turn up the dial so they null any 25 second penalty. What a bollocks team theyve become. Redbull 2010-2013 look like school kids in comparison. Fake arse champions.

I think if it was only Hamilton's car then Merc could argue maybe air was let out when the gauge went on or some other reason but I think the fact Rosbergs was unbder and by as much as 1.1 has shot them in the foot.

It has to be a DSQ as then other teams will all do the same stunt. I think it's harsh for the fans and for Lewis him self but as people have said the rules are the rules but yet again it's the inconsistencies in F1 that annoy people the most. Bottas's mixed tyres being a big one for me right now.

The differences are one is a technical regulation and one is a sporting.
Running out of fuel in qualifying to not being able to give a sample is a technical and it gives an exclusion while a block is a sporting which gives a grid drop.

Bottas's mixed tyres is nothing like this.

Not defending it as if they are found to be guilty it should be a DSQ but do you really believe 0.3 PSI is the reason for 25 seconds difference? Come on, really? Merc are leaps and bounds ahead of the rest of the field, I don't think this was intentional.
