    I can still just visualise him playing a cracking game for Chesterfield in the FA Cup against PL opposition, and he stood out from his teammates. Great player.

    Middlesbrough FA Cup Semi-Final. lost in extra time and I think having a goal disallowed that should have stood. He scored a cracking goal in that cup run and then scored a similar one for us away to Everton. I'll always remember the winner at The Dell against Manure too - thanks Kev.

    I believe he was unfulfilled potential. Yes, he had a long career at the top, but he left us too soon for Blackburn, had a poor time there and came back. By then his confidence was rocked. I felt during his first stint that he could have been really, really big. Another one who left us too soon. I also think WGS didn't use him correctly either and he had a sour ending... (Stories of being pissed on cup final day because he was left out the match day squad)

    I've always had a soft spot for him.

    Another of those 'when they were noticed' - I remember Paul Jones in goal for Stockport at the Dell against us in the cup. We either drew, then lost the replay, or lost this game (can't quite recall) but Matty wellied a free kick from it must have been 30-35 yards straight toward the top corner. Jones pulled off a stunning, almost impossible fingertip save.

    So we bought him.
