...would you have sold Gayle to us? Having run them close in the 1st game, in fact we probably caused them more problems than any other team so far, surely an obvious tactic to **** over a close rival would be to pull the plug on a deal at the 11th hour. 'Harry' did it skilfully with Linvoy Primus 10 years ago which pretty much sealed our fate before a ball had been kicked. Has Jordan done it to us this time?
I wasn't overly keen on Gayle myself, so not really bothered by it. Walters would have been a great addition, but it wasn't to be.
It's very unlikely your suggestion Simon Jordan has deliberately screwed us over is true, baring in mind he hasn't been in control of the club since 2010. I wouldn't doubt for one second that the account given publicly by the Palace owner, Steve Parish, is 100% correct. We only decided to bid for Gayle once Bournemouth decided they were prepared to match our asking price for Lewis Grabban. We had no need for Gayle at any point until then. Unfortunately, they weren't able to replace Gayle that late in the window and with Glenn Murray already gone, ironically to Bournemouth (a bit annoyed at that - would have done a good job for us) it wasn't to be and he pulled the plug. To be honest, I don't really rate Gayle much more than I rate (or rather don't rate) Grabban. Only difference is one is a total buffoon.
