Thats a nice wee ground, been there a few times.....constantly losing balls over the fence! Right in the shadow of Dumbarton Rock and Castle, the oldest fortification in Scotland, and about 12 miles from me!

Yes, Dum..Barton, I thought those photos might give it away, but didn't realize that you lived so close. Looks like a nice little football ground with an interesting history surrounding it. I wonder how many people escaped from that French prison perched on the cliff?

The fantastic photo below of the French Prison at Dumbarton Rock and Strathclyde Homes Stadium comes via Bill Heaney. Alclutha was the Celtic name for Dumbarton and literally means “The Rock on the Clyde”
